Yeah, that's just a truncated version of the Madison Blues set, I've seen the company that put these things out do this with other releases with that same kind of cover art...

That's exactly what I suspected, though I was hoping it would have been something different.

I'd love to hear a recording of the post-Spencer pre-Welch incarnation that went on the road with Green...could you imagine the guitar work?!

Default "Down at the Crown"

While I'm catching up on old episodes of "Peep Show" that haven't been available in the states until recently, one of the episodes featured a large building called "The Crown" (with a pub). Could this be the same place as described by Christine McVie from the original live album material?

The Crown is a very popular name for pubs over here, I have one near me. The Crown of "Down at the Crown" is this one, near Benifolds.

'There's one floating around, Island Park New York March 27 1971. You don´t want to hear it. Awful recording quality even though a remastering has been tried. You can´t reealy figure out any guitar work.
Wish there was more, though.

That's a shame. Can you hear the vocals at least?

There's this bootleg of the Heroes tour that would be amazing if you could hear anything! They played Nightwatch and Badlooser in the same set. A real shame not to hear it.

I heard this one too... it's really bad.. but the keys from Christine are awesome. It's like listening thru a tin can.. or a cell phone..

Default Where....

I got the idea that "Preaching the blues" is recorded live. If so, does anyone know where it was recorded?

I know of three "live" versions of Spencer performing Son House's 'Preachin' the Blues'

The earliest recording is from an August 07, 1970 show at the Fillmore West -

The second, and in my opinion, definitive performance by Spencer, was recorded in November of that year for a BBC broadcast and was released on the "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac Live at the BBC" collection under the title 'Preachin''

and the third version can be found on the "Madison Blues" box set, titled 'Preaching Blues' recorded at a show performed on February tenth 1971 -

this is an excellent show, by the way - thirteen numbers in total with Spencer taking lead on eight of the songs -

it may also have been Spencer's last performance with Fleetwood Mac -

Thanks - BTW, The "Preaching the Blues" CD have thirteen numbers (soundboard VG+ ?) though I didn't find a concert recorded February tenth 1971. The Fleetwood Mac Legacy mentions "February 11, 1971 Fillmore West San Francisco, CA". Do you thing this is correct...?
