The Final Album
I never did believe in miracles, but I've got a feeling it's time to try.
Why can't the final album be a second coming of The Dance? Why not another live performance designed for album release that includes 6 new songs a couple repeat live performances of major hits from The Dance and say 6 of their more popular songs that didn't make the cut for The Dance last time? This is a compromise that would surely sell, give them a more fitting send off than EP, and give us fans a few new tunes to go out with. Would you take this approach as a final act? |

No way would I want rehash of live songs. Plus the fact that their voices while ok for audience member live performances would need a load of "help" in post production to be suitable enough for release. You know they would never let it go out raw. go

Its hard to think about this because its not going to happen. What a waste for the band to write, produce, and spend time creating 6 new songs that never make it to the studio. If they go that far, why not a full album? The Dance "new" songs were ok but fairly simple tunes. Can you imagine if the Mac worked together on a full album before releasing the Dance? The Dance was successful not because of 3 new songs but the reunion of the band celebrating 20 years after Rumours.
I was optimistic a year ago. I would have bet the house that Stevie would have joined them in the studio. Even silly dreamer me knows there will not be any new material from the Mac again. In addition the big tour next year will be a rehash of On With The Show with about a 4 song shuffle. At this point we have to take what we can get. We also have to realize what a tiny small minority we are. We are all demanding new material and Buck/McVie are out on tour promoting great new music and they cant even fill small theaters. The big money machine will have them playing all their staples for possible one last time.

The Dance II ? Please, no. You can trick 'em once but you cant trick 'em twice.
That the Dance was successful was due to the nostalgia. As a disk to listen to it was nice, but its a bit of a con really. They cant pull that trick again. As has been said, if they can record a few songs together as 5 then they may as well go that extra bit further and put an album out. PS I was thinking... will The Heartbreakers continue as a touring band, a la Queen? If so who will they get to front them??? I know its very early to even be thinking this, but...I wonder.

It's hard to accept there may not be a final album. I don't know how this happened. I won't give up hope until it's really over. There is still the album coming in 2018 that could morph into the final album. In the meantime, here is my playlist that I am listening as if it were the final album. It's a combination of tracks that would have made a lovely and dignified end to the band. I'll add songs when the 2018 album comes out, but for now...

I'm wondering if Tom Petty's death will have any sort of effect on her in regards to doing a new FM album. Like....we're so lucky that we're all still alive and still here, maybe we SHOULD do one more album... One can only dream!

And Lindsey can blather on forever before each song.
"This next song is when we were all at a bad time in our lives. We were generating some very negative vibes, which weren't organic and healthy. So we started painting cycles with organic paints and our reconvening had organic healthy vibes." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Rzao52ndNA Last edited by Sapphire Girl; 10-10-2017 at 09:17 PM.. |
