Default Stealing Nicks

I was going through the pink section of the Sunday paper and saw that Petty Theft, a Tom Petty tribute band, is playing a Slim's, a local club in SF (owned by Boz Scaggs). I also saw that Stealing Nicks (as I guessed, a Stevie tribute band) is opening for him. Not really news, but I thought I'd post it just because it kind of made me laugh. Even in the tribute bands Stevie opens for Tom.

By the way, I watched 30 seconds of one of their videos and she actually sings Stevie songs the way Stevie sings them live, so at least she's done her homework.

Not bad. Except too much flailing.

Oooh, she's doing the Red Rocks version of Talk To Me. I love that! I'm always tempted to do the Red Rocks version of Edge at karaoke just to see if anyone calls the paramedics.

This is hilarious! Stealing Nicks? Petty Theft? Brilliant!

I have to give the Stevie impersonator big props. A lot of the photos posted on the website look very similar to Stevie. She really studied the various iconic looks of Stevie through the ages and executed them well, honoring her image. It would be very fun if she replicated the Stevie of 1986 , doing a whole show mimicking her looks and her over-the-top and off-kilter performances.

I watched some the video performances. Her vocals were passable; the nuances of Stevie's live vocals were there, but some of the wording/phrasing was off at times (but only a diehard Stevie fan would notice it). Otherwise, she was pretty much on spot.
