Exactly. She is done. I'd almost wager one of my limbs on her not coming back.
She might be persuaded to record with them, but that's as far as she'd let it go. I've said for years now, they should all record one more album, and do just a couple of shows in London. Film a DVD for all of us to buy, and we all win! But it ain't gonna happen... |

Yeah, retired. But I'm hoping another boutique album like ITM comes out while she still possesses that amazing voice.
I consider ITM among her best work and was so happy when it was released. I only wish more people heard it. |

About the comments that suggest Christine didn't get enough credit. Do you think she feels that way? I doubt that. Christine has always been strongly self-assured. She never felt the need to be a singular, high-profile rock star; her ego was alway in check. She wrote some of Fleetwood Mac's biggest, classic songs, and was justly respected, recognized and compensated for her efforts. I don't think she has any regrets, or feels that she has been overlooked in anyway. She can actually be singled out for her consistency and dignity - cool, calm and collected! She had a style...a rakish style.

This. I think she's pretty much retired from the public spotlight, period. I think at this point we'd be lucky to even get any further press interviews out of her. She is becoming extremely reclusive. I think the lady is just done, as much as we all hate it.

I'd say that if she ever did release another album it would probably be of her favorite blues tunes rather than a pop/rock album.

I hope that if she ever releases another album it would be made up of her favorite blues tunes rather than a pop/rock album. That would be a dream come true.

The article that the original post referred to was a review of 'In the Meantime.' When that article used the term "coming out of retirement" it referred to Chris making another solo album, along the line of 'ITM,' not re-joining Fleetwood Mac in any way.
I think it's unlikely Chris will record any more, but I would have said the same thing before 'ITM' was released. One wouldn't expect a wealthy, contented, retired pop star in her late 60s to record any more. But stranger things have happened in this world. If she DOES record again, it will make my day. Another 'ITM' ... another blues record ... Christine reading out of the phone book ... doesn't matter ... it will make my day.

One of my favorite songs of hers is Homeward Bound off the Bare Trees album. Her dislike of touring was evident even in 1973...
I want to sit at home in my rocking chair I don't want to travel the world As far as I'm concerned I've had my share My time's more precious than gold.. I don't want to see another airplane seat Or another hotel room Homelife to me seems really neat I just wanna run back for good.... Buy me a ticket homeward bound.... She stuck it out for a looooong time. |

And while I certainly would love to hear more blues from Christine, I would not want her to come out of retirement for something her heart is not into. She gave so much, it is all good now. |

I love that song, too. It is on my list of my top 10 Fleetwood Mac songs. Great keyboards AND guitar.
Evidently, her love of performing trumped her dislike of touring, for many, many years.

I'm not being crass by saying that, I just mean that when you've struggled as a musician for so long, driving in vans and staying in s0-s0 hotels, hanging on to "make it" and you FINALLY do.....well, I think for a while there's a lot of incentive to enjoy that ride..... until the novelty wears off and you realize you STILL don't like the touring etc.... I mean, let's face it, private jets and presidential suites and having more money than you can spend has got to be nice. |
