Default Has Our John Been Knighted?

[We don't get many mentions of John, so I put this here, rather than MacNuggets. John, Lindsey sounds like two people playing too. Have you ever told him that? Where's the love, buddy?]

Former Port Hope guitarist returns by popular demand

PORT HOPE — Back by popular demand, former Port Hope resident Robert Keyes returns to town for an April 20 appearance.

Now living in the U.S. and billing himself a Virginia fingerstyle guitarist, Keyes recently appeared at Harry’s Little City of Bricks. The gig was such a success that he is making another stop there as part of the tour he is undertaking from April 3 to 22 (which begins and ends in Picton).

Termed a Virginia fingerstyle guitarist, Keyes has been developing his solo guitar style for years with original mini-orchestrations that feature lush harmonies and independent polyrhythmic counterlines.

“It almost sounds like two people playing,” Sir John McVie (of Fleetwood Mac) remarked, after a trip to Virginia during which he happened to enter a venue were Keyes was playing.

This not only provided Keyes with the wonderful opportunity to play with the former bass player and cofounder of an iconic British band, but also was a great confidence booster.

Keyes has also had the opportunity to play with Lyle Lovett. Among the many wonderful Canadian performers that he has played with are Holly Cole and Hagood Hardy.

A Keyes show will weave in everything from the Beatles and Brubeck to Bach and Bob Dylan. He loves to blend various styles in an attempt to reach the many varied tastes of a typical audience.

His last show at Harry’s Little City of Bricks (20 Ontario St., Port Hope) was a smashing success, and it is recommended that anyone who wants to catch the April 20 one at 7 p.m. call for reservations.

If he has been knighted, he's probably sold his medal down the pub by now. But I doubt he has. I can't find anything on the Queen knighting him. I've noticed sometimes though that American tabloids have a tendency to knight English people when they have a lot of notoriety.

No, I know he hasn't. That wouldn't have gone under our radar, plus he was such a bad tax collector that I'm sure the Queen wants nothing to do with him.

But isn't Northumberland Today one of your papers?

See, I didn't notice the Northumberland part. I scanned the article, saw 'Virginia' and left it at that lol. My badness. I think somebody must have really jumped the gun in their presentation of the man, haha. It happens sometimes. Maybe the person who wrote the article was a fan

The former bass player? Forget about a knighthood. You should be questioning whether or not John's been replaced in Fleetwood Mac.

I'd love for Mick and John to be knighted, or at least be made CBE. (For Christine, too, of course - it's Dame then, right?)

They are definitely in the league of these guys, IMHO.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe John gave up his English citizenship for that of the USA (Mick, too?)
