Tusk revisited painfully
Well, fellow Ledgies, after the painful end of a very long-term relationship, I poured a glass of wine (or four) and cranked up Tusk. I've probably listened to this album a thousand times and still I find it haunting. In particular, can anyone who's ever experienced a beautiful love lost listen to Storms without feeling the raw emotion in Stevie's voice and lyrics? I urge everyone (because surely you've all known the pain of losing a great love) to put Storms on the headphones and listen intently. Actually, listen to the whole album on headphones. REALLY listen. To me, Tusk was FM's crowning artistic achievement. Some of their other work may be more approachable, but Tusk is simply etherial magic.
Now I'm going to crank up the volume and listen more. Anyway, just wanted to put this out there . . . |

TUSK!
TOTALLY AGREE, I listened to the album TWICE at work today, it's one of the greatest albums EVER. How can you listen to it and not go, wow, this was made in 1979? It doesn't sound dated and it's just breathtaking, every bit of it. Stevie was in her best form in the Tusk era, Beautiful Child just gets me every time. WMYTYTO and TAFE are two Lindsey songs that are just KILLER! Brown Eyes is one of my fave Christine songs too.

Save me a place
I've always wondered, do you think Save Me a Place was about Lindsey leaving FM to pursue a solo career? I mean, think about some of the lyrics . . .
Don't know why I have to work Don't know why I can't play Turn me off, turn me out But don't turn me away Save me a place . . . Don't know why I have to go Don't know why I can't stay Guess I need to be alone And I guess I need to be amazed Save me a place I dunno. Just a crazy thought. God, this whole album is poetic. |

hey Rainman
I agree, I always thought Save Me A Place was about Lindsey's desire to explore and roam creatively. At this point I think he probably wasn't real sure about leaving the security of the band completly. In fact, maybe it wasn't even about leaving the band at this point, but just about being allowed to explore creatively within the band. Maybe the "work" was churning out what the record company and even the rest of the band wanted at that time, play of course what he wanted.
I think the rest of it speaks for itself...

I remember...
when I bought "Tusk" and listened to the whole album (cassette tape...Just had to buy it on Cd...lol) on the way home from the doctor's last summer. I didnt know what to think about it since I only knew the tracks that were singles and songs that Stevie sung...But I ended up playing it three times through as I listened in awe...Still cannot believe how great it is from start to finish..."Storms" is my favorite 'Mac song, Stevie's voice just delivers emotionally on this tune...Brian

COOLNESS!
Jessica, I hope you and your mom have a GREAT time at the Monkees concert!! Barry Williams was JUST on my morning radio show on Friday, Kidd Kraddick in the Morning! LOL "Johnny Bravo" LMAO! He talked about touring with the Monkees! My mom never saw em when she was little either, her mom was not a good mom. Her favorite was (and still is) Peter Tork. My fave as a kid was Micky cuz he was the crazy one, but as I got older, it was Davy! LOL The cute, Brit!! Gotta love the accent!
Anyways......TUSK RULES!!
