Stevie mentioned the NEW FM record last night...

Stevie Nicks BMI ICON awards AP interview http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/US...age=1&b=c42d8b

Stevie Nicks/Musician, on the reunion of the full superstar configuration of Fleetwood Mac: "Well, Christine (McVie) just decided to come back. She called. We were in Europe last year at the end of the year and she called me and said, 'What would you think if I decided to come back to the band?' And I'm like, 'Well, you've convinced us over 16 years that you were never coming back. You finally, actually convinced us. So, are you kidding?' And she said, 'I'm not kidding.' And I said, 'Well, Chris, have you seen us in concert lately? Because you should see us, because it's very physical. It's almost three hours, and you have to kind of be an athlete. So, get a trainer.' And she did! She did, totally! So she's, like, rockin.' So she's very excited, and we are very excited for her. "

Steve Nicks/Musician, on reviewing her own compositions: "There's no fluff songs in my songs. And they all meant a lot to me and they were all written about somebody else or about me or about the world or about the country or, you know, there's no just playful no-big-deal songs."

"It's a very, very heavy thing to look back at all the things you've done, especially when that's between 15 years old and 66 years old, and, then, tomorrow, it all starts again with a whole other thing."

Stevie Nicks on the material for her upcoming solo album:

"We went on to YouTube and we found all the songs that, somehow, were taken from my house or picked up or loaned out or whatever, and we picked up all the songs that like -- there was like 25 songs that the fans really wanted me to record, and we picked 18. And we went to Nashville and we recorded 17 songs. So they're like all starting from like 1969 maybe? I call them my 24-carat gold songs.

Stevie Nicks on acting opposite actress Jessica Lange in "American Horror Story: Coven": "She's amazing. And, so, I just watched her a lot, you know? And I sang, 'Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You' to her, probably like 20 times. And she cried every time. And it was like, 'Oh my god!' It was -- the fact that Ryan (series co-creator and -producer Ryan Murphy) brought me into that was such a gift - nothing like that probably will ever happen to me like that again. 'American Horror Story: Coven'! It's like my dream, you know. (laughs.)"

NICKS GETS ICONIC, TALKS FLEETWOOD MAC REUNION, NEW SOLO ALBUM AND 'AMERICAN HORROR STORY'

Stevie Nicks thought former Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie was pulling her leg.

"She called when we were in Europe at the end of last year," explained Nicks. "And (she) said, 'What would you think if I decided to come back to the band?' And I'm like, 'Well, you've convinced us over 16 years that you were never coming back. You finally, actually convinced us. So, are you kidding?'"

She wasn't.

McVie had conquered a longtime fear of flying -- a fear so crippling that, in 1998, it forced her to retire from one of the world's busiest touring bands.

McVie spent most of the time between then and now at her mansion in rural northern England.

With McVie's return, Fleetwood Mac is finally back to its most successful configuration, also including Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and Christin's ex-husband John McVie.

Out of the gate, they produced the multi-million selling albums "Fleetwood Mac" (1975) and "Rumours" (1977) and such pop classics as "Rhiannon (Will You Ever Win)" "Say You Love Me," "Go Your Own Way" and "Dreams."

Many of Fleetwood Mac's hits were written by Nicks, who, Tuesday night, was honored with the Icon award from music-rights management group Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) for her body of work both with the band and solo, also including the songs "Landslide," "Gypsy," "Edge of Seventeen" and "Stand Back."

To prep for her acceptance speech, Nicks, 66, reviewed her own songbook.

"There's no fluff," she noted. "There's no just-playful, no-big-deal songs."

"It's a very, very heavy thing to look back on what you've done," Nicks continued. "And, then, tomorrow, it all starts again."

There's a solo album on the way, with 17 so-called "trunk" songs -- things Nicks had written and, in some cases, performed over the years that fans requested be properly recorded and put into an album. A new Fleetwood Mac album is coming, too, as well as a big Mac tour, beginning 30 September in Minneapolis.

Nicks said she warned McVie to expect a very different experience on stage, "'It's very physical. It's almost three hours. You have to kind of be an athlete, so get a trainer.' And she did! She did, totally! And she's like rockin.'"

It wasn't much but at least Stevie acknowledged that there actually is a new FM album coming...

Ah so the new speculation is not if there will be an album, but when.

The 2013 Tour thing seems to be a go-er to me. Except with an additional singer in Christine they should do a least 4-6 new songs live, even if they cannot manage to get a physical CD release out before the tour.

I will wait and watch videos on YouTube like I did last year. Last year was all worth it to see Sad Angel the first night, to see Stevie dedicate Landslide to Peter Green, to see Christine McVie back on stage.

This is fabulous news and Stevie knew exactly what she was doing with promoting this band's record from the very start. She waited just the perfect amount of time to casually drop this into a red carpet conversation at the BMI awards where there were lots of cameras.

Beautiful, gorgeous, graceful ageless women: Step up to the stage!!!!!

It wasn't much to you maybe. It was a lot to me at this hard time in my life and that is all that matters, so I'm going to enjoy it and stop rationalising it like a hardcore fan for just a second.

It calls for champagne when you've had the past month that I've had. Just a breath of fresh air in this crazy world where you can have a bad car accident that somehow, miraculously you walked away from. Losing a treasured family member.

It was in a time similar to this time of my life that I first found Fleetwood Mac and it is time like these that there is nothing more special to me than the sound of Stevie, Lindsey and Christine harmonising on the Dreams vocals with the best rhythm section alive today backing them up

I have my ticket to Houston TX show. I need to save the money for airfare. The government in my country recently changed and our economy is good but not certain...

Time to kick back and listen and leave you Ledgies to hammering out the details which I'll hopefully get to read when I'm a little less excited

thanks for sharing. happy for you guys that you are getting your vault songs, although i was hoping they composed and recorded some new music that can be shared with the Mac. maybe Mac will get some more Without Yous to add to Christine and Lindsey's new songs.

above it seems that article writer added the info about the FM tour and album in order to provide the full picture of info that's out there, she's not quoted as saying that... is it in the video/audio that SN actually mentions FM album?

I find this part interesting:

"We went on to YouTube and we found all the songs that, somehow, were taken from my house or picked up or loaned out or whatever, and we picked up all the songs that like -- there was like 25 songs that the fans really wanted me to record, and we picked 18. I wonder if Miss Nicks is now planning to take the remaining songs of the 25 that she did not record and make them available for Fleetwood Mac?

Rather exciting time!

I read nothing about a FM album coming from the horses mouth. Only the author, which could have just said they're making an album due to Lindsey and Christine's interviews.

Read the article carefully, that "24 carat" quote is when she's talking about the solo album.

Definitely exciting!

I love that she talks about youtube and doesn't bother anymore to add all the "the internet is ruining society" blah blah anymore. She ain't dumb.

That said, you have to wonder of course which songs she thinks everyone wants to hear-- and are they the songs *I* want to hear?? And then, either way, how will whatever new arrangements she has for them change from the demos we know and love, and how will they sound with her voice now versus decades ago when the demos were done? I'm not complaining, just wondering in anticipation. Someone in her camp has been doing their online homework… fingers crossed!

My demo choices (in a perfect world done perfectly):

Forest of the Black Roses
She Still Loves Him
Have a Heart
Birds of Rhiannon
Joan of Arc (wish FM would have done)

I could skip many of her 80s over-synthed demo songs.

I like your list and agree with the 80's synth songs but you never know, they could be revamped into something we wouldn't recognize.

Guess we will just have to wait and see.

I wonder what her release schedule is for this project.

I think it is time I dig up some of my old bootleg box sets from the mid to late 90's of Miss Nicks and have a listen to refresh the old memory.

Did she? It doesn't quote her on that. The author could have gotten that information from another source. After all, Lindsey and Christine's interviews are easily available online.

I agree. I don't see that in quotations marks. She has not confirmed. The author acted as if Stevie said it. But Stevie didn't say it.

Well, so many songs are being chosen that everyone will find that at least 2 or 3 of their favorites have been included.

In all these years, Stevie has never once not offered newly-penned songs to Fleetwood Mac, right alongside any vaulted songs she gives them. I doubt this time around will be any different. In fact, considering that she's going to be releasing 18 of those vaulted songs on her solo album, it seems even more likely that she'll offer completely new material to the Mac.
