Default New Jeremy Spencer release 2019

Jeremy Spencer has just released a new collection of instrumentals. It’s called «Latina Nights» and can be found on Spotify and other places. No CD or vinyl versions it seems.

I can’t wait to hear it but I really do wish he would release an album with vocals again.

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

I think it's great that he's continuing to be creative.

I agree. But why do you think no lyrics?

His last few vocal albums were wonderful -- voice and lyrics!

Writer's block? Cost? Or an artistic statement -- letting those slide guitar tones tell their tales?

ETA: Is there some kind of software one can use to add singing to these tracks?

I’m not sure why he’s gone the solely instrumental route. Maybe he just didn’t want to deal with vocals this time—or he wanted to force himself to make more melodic statements with the guitar?

The last 3 albums have been instrumental

Although each in a different style: blues, melodic, Latin

I do not mind instrumental albums. Peter Frampton, Jonathan Cain and Neil Schon (Journey), and Billy Joel have released instrumental albums.

i just listened to the available soundbites of all the tracks . . . oh dear!

i really don't mind instrumental albums at all, but if you've listened to the first 3 tunes you've virtually heard the whole album. although it's all quite nice and beautifully played (jeremy's proved already that he'd developed his slide playing way beyond elmore james), it's a pity there's absolutely no diversity here. one sort of rhythm and the same sound throughout, no dynamic changes, nothing but sleepy latino tunes - everything sounds too much alike and i doubt if vocals would've helped a tiny bit. reminds me of lying in a hammock on a hot sunny day with a drink . . . falling to sleep before long. simply boring for my money.

of course jeremy - as any other artist - is entitled to do whatever he wants to do, but this tune cycle is not for me. i'm definitely not a guy who's getting off on blues only - not at all, but "precious little" and "bend in the road" are the albums i gladly return to now. i'd be curious to know other folks' thoughts out there . . .
