Don't Stop Auto-Transcribing Tomorrow

Has anyone tried Youtube's new "Transcribe Audio" feature?... It uses Google's Speech recongition technology to supposedly supply subtitles to videos... Needless to say they get it wrong quite often, but with hilarious side-effects!

I've been in fits of laughter watching the Don't Stop Documentary!... It has brilliant gems such as John saying:




You have to select the Transcribe Audio function by clicking the little CC button on the bottom right of the video... It may not show up here, but does on youtube

This is so funny! The captions are so inaccurate. Hopefully this technology will improve cause it would be nice to just read what the audio is on a youtube video esp if you can't have the sound on or up to loud.

You have to view it on Youtube, not the embedded videos.

It's in red, just to the left of the resolution on the bottom right of the video. Hover your cursor over it, and choose BETA when it gives you a choice.

Sorry I'm not seeing anything like that. Do I need to update flash or something?

It's not an option on every video.

I tried several of the SOTM videos and didn't see that feature available. Of course I didn't mind having to watch SOTM live so many times!

It seems to be on alot of the interview type videos, though...

Hmmm.

It's not available for every video, but it is ( obviously ) for the Don't Stop doc. It's not "in" the video, but like in the frame...pause button, volume and time on the left - screen size ( lots of arrows ) on the right, above number of views? You should see the screen resoulution ( 360 ) on that same bar, and the CC just left of that.

I'm not sure if updating flash would help or not, but it's definitely worth a try

I bet they didn't have closed captioning for the Mirage video. Although, that would be hilarious to see what they came up with.
