Default FM: Domophiles!

What's with the unusually prevalent use of 'house' in FM lyrics? It's a pretty weird term/concept for pop/rock. (Hah excluding hip-hop/rap's "inda house" I guess!)

Stevie Sara - "When you build your house, I'll come by"
If we didn't know it was about Don it would
make no sense.
(plus all the hall and room references in
Affairs of the Heart yadda yadda yadda)

Lindsey Big Love - "I'll build you a kingdom, in that house on
the hill." Big hit pop song, bizarro lyric!

Christine The Challenge ..... it was inspired by John's
HOUSEboat!!

I'm not as up with pre-Mac lyrics as some of you - anyone know of 'house' refernces in other songs?

Well, one off the top of my head right now is Welcome to the Room...Sara, and also in Stevie's solo song Blue Lamp: Downstairs where the big old house is mine.

On a side note: Stevie also has a thing for stairs. Thousand Days: The closest you've ever come to me was to help me up the stairs, you stood in the middle of the stairway, you nearly dragged me up the stairs.
I Miss You: She's back on that staircase on the way up to her place.
Plus AGAIN Blue Lamp and WTTRS: Downstairs where...upstairs where the stars laugh and they shine.

Yeah Stevie's the worst offender. Maybe she was an architect in a past life??

Gotta love those stairs! But it is sooo true....Look at the videos of 'Talk To Me' and 'I Can't Wait'....What do they have in common????....Stevie walking repeatedly up and down Stairs!

Lyrically...
1..... 'Edge of Seventeen': "Well I went searching for an answer up the STAIRS and down the hall..."
2.......'When I see You Again': "And she stares at the stairs "
3.......'Street Angel': "I fell down the stairs a broken rag doll "
4.......'Sisters of the moon': "She was dark at the top of the stairs "

As far as houses....'Leather and Lace': "When I walked into your house"

The thing about stairs is that they always lead you somewhere and it's the same thing with Stevie's songs, you always end up at a point somewhere.

Ah, but don't forget, Joe, the fun is in the journey.
