But Rock A Little is just consistent- something you NEVER get from a Stevie album. It's the only Stevie album I can put on from start to finish and not hit the skip button. There aren't any bad songs on it, nor are there any dead spots.

To those who scream Rock A Little is so dated, go listen to some current pop & indie music. So many current bands from Haim to Phoenix and dozens of others channel that mid 80s sound into music these days. What's old is new again.
I get it too as I voted for Rock A Little. However, I just had a thought - depending on perspective, I could also vote for 24 Karat Gold. Reason being is that RAL is indeed the only album where I love/like/listen to every single track. That's 12 songs. Out of the 16 I have with 24K, there is only 1 song I don't care for. That makes 15 songs I love/like/listen to. In that sense, 24K is my fave so I'll call it a tie between those 2. A very close second is Wild Heart.

Just out of curiosity, what is the song you don't care for?

Hmmm I don't think I'm at a place where I can rank them. However, In Your Dreams and 24 Karat Songs are definitely, for me, her best albums.

1. In Your Dreams
2. 24 Karat Songs
3. Bella Donna
4. The rest is a tie

Yeah 24k has the most tracks out of all her albums. I love the Wild Heart but it doesn't flow, extremely synthnosized dated, and her voice doesn't sound nowhere near as good as Bella Donna. However, I feel like 24k and The Wild Heart are the truest to who Stevie is. Only Stevie could come up with Sable on Blonde and Nightbird. Plus, there is dark feminity that is so unique. She really was bewitching on that album.

Most of Stevie's albums are great but my favourite is 'The Wild Heart'. I also absolutely love 'Rock a Little' as it is so different for Stevie and I just love the iconic album cover. I think it's one of the best album covers of all time.

I wish that Sable on Blond had become one of the regular closers like BATB and HAEWAFY.

It does have definite atmosphere. Michele

I don't care for I Don't Care. It's ok - I like the music better than the lyrics or vocal on that one. But I'll listen to it every now and then. For years I did not like the song RAL - hated in fact. Now, I absolutely adore which is how RAl got to be my fave album. I love her voice on the Wild Heart - it's on that last edge and for me is more interesting than the Bella Donna stuff. But I really love all her albums save for Street Angel.

I read some RAL-bashing. In fact RAL was my first Stevie-album I bought (after I had taped a cassette with The Wild Heart) back in 1987. If you do not know the background or story, you hear a typical 80's-produced album. I like that, because the 80's are the era where I grew up musically....

My ranking would be:

1. The Wild Heart
2. Belladonna
3. 24k Gold
4. RAL
5. IYD
6. OSOTM
7. TISL
8 Street Angel

But 5,6,7 can be exchanged with each other ...

Bella Donna
Wild Heart
Other Side of the Mirror
Street Angel
Rock A Little
In Your Dreams
24 Karat Gold
TISL

I love Street Angel. Its good rock n roll. I do not like TISL. Besides the title track the songs all sound like demos. Everything is extremely safe. Almost every song has the same beat or drum track. Sheryl Crow did a horrible job IMHO. But there are some great songs on it but not enough to fill an album.

My ranking...

1. The Other Side Of The Mirror
2. The Wild Heart
3. Trouble In Shangri-La
4. 24 Karat Gold
5. In Your Dreams
6. Bella Donna
7. Rock A Little
8. Street Angel

My mother played TOSOTM almost every day of my childhood - so, it has stuck with me for as long as I can remember and I genuinely think its a real work of art in her catalog.
