Well that's bull****. You can't have a ruined career and have a top 10 album that's had little/no promotion. This person needs to get their facts and figures correct before they make silly comments like that.

Yeah it definitely goosed her sales. It was great to see those certifications roll in.

When Street Angel peaked at something like 45 I honestly thought Nicks would never see another Top 10 album, so the fact that she's on track to achieve 3 in a row is very impressive.

It's already an important part of her legacy. It's fine to monitor and obsess over sales and charts figures, but the quality/integrity of the music is what matters most. Stevie has succeeded on that front.

I wonder if there are any other plans to promote the album; maybe Dave has some creative idea planned. The reviews have been good, so that's promotion in itself. I wish Rolling Stone would feature her on the cover, as sort of a updated full circle version of her cover in 1981.

Well as usual, Billboard is quite a bit different to Hits Daily Double!

Apparently, the album has debuted at #7 with sales of 33,000, not #8 with sales of 26,000. That's a bit of a difference.

Oh well, even better news!

From Billboard:

Rock legend Stevie Nicks nets her sixth top 10 solo album, as her quasi-archival release 24 Karat Gold: Songs From the Vault set starts at No. 7 (33,000). The set consists of newly-recorded material that was written and recorded in demo versions in earlier years. 24 Karat Gold follows Nicks' In Your Dreams, which debuted (and peaked) at No. 6 back in 2011 (52,000 sold in its first week).

Thanks for the news James89! Way to go Stevie! What's good for Stevie is good for Fleetwood Mac, too.

That's more like it! #7 is a solid, and respectable debut for "24 Karat Gold!" Stevie should be very proud.

I actually think she might be surprised by this. I'm very pleased. I just pray for a respectable second week!

Agreed! Another Top 10 album for Stevie. As long as she keeps recording music, this will give her peers more reason to induct her into the RRHoF as a solo artist one day.

There's nothing to be disappointed about because 1) 24 Karat Gold was marketed as a retrospective and 2) albums don't sell nearly what they used to anymore. It is very rare, even for the biggest acts, to hit gold status today. People who are comparing sales figures from 10 years ago have not adjusted to the reality that music sales have been steadily going down. Artists only sell a fraction of what they used to. Stevie is also a legacy artist, so her sales are not going to be what they used to be (something fans have always, understandably, had a hard time accepting).

I completely disagree about the promotion. Reprise did a great job with keeping fans occupied. They offered different versions of the album, released three digital singles with accompanying musics videos, and issued numerous samples of the album up until its release. Stevie also did video commentary for the album. And now she's on The Voice, the most popular reality TV show on primetime TV. Everyone's been working pretty hard.

^^^^^^it would be really great if 24 karat gold could get any sort of mention on said #1 reality show. Kind of pointless just to have her on there giving her crazy commentaries with no mention of her new album.
