Maybe she's not a "great" but Reba McEntire wrote a lot of her own songs early in her career and they were pretty good. I am sorry that she seemed to stop writing her own stuff for decades. I would like to see where that would have gone. I guess she was more focused on the "single" than the expression.

I do enjoy Reba's music since its true country music from the heart.

I never got into her TV show though.
