Default recent concert video and album remaster trend

I'm sure some of you have noticed that it seems to be the trend right now for rockers from the boomer generation to release old concert videos and remasters of older albums, either for the first time, or in expanded form, box set, etc. Bowie's Station to Station, Springsteen's Darkness On the Edge of Town, etc. I got my biggest surprise the other day though when I went to Borders and was glancing at the performance dvd section. The Rolling Stones, within the last two months, have allowed the remastered releases of BOTH, Let's Spend The Night Together (never released on dvd) and LADIES & GENTLEMEN: THE ROLLING STONES, one of the most famous concert videos never released on any kind of home video format, that has been bootlegged by generations.

It's time for Fleetwood Mac to follow suit and remaster Mirage & Tango, and put out a couple of old concerts on dvd. There is no reason not to, and the market is hot right now for that kind of product.

thanks for listening to my rant and go watch some of those amazing old Stones concerts

I'm thinking that they should release a live album of the Hollywood Bowl show in 1980 or maybe give Tusk doc a proper release. As for footage, there could easily be some never-before-seen vintage concert buried somewhere in the depths of WB's basement and, with a bit of TLC, could be as good as new.

Yes. More Tusk Doc please. With bonus footage for Stevie's infamous bouncing boobs during Angel and more footage of her stretching in her ballerina outfit....

Mirage definitely needs a good remastering. I guess I'm spoiled because my first 3 FM CDs were FM, Rumours, and Tusk, all the deluxe editions. They're amazing to listen to with headphones on. Hell, they're great to listen to any way you can.

I just received the Mirage CD from Amazon and was disapointed in the sound quality. I liked the material, but it surely didn't sound as clean and dynamic as the 3 remastered ones. Still, I'm going to enjoy it until a new one is released.

Honestly, I would rather have a completely different concert from either the Tusk or Mirage tour. I've seen the Tusk Doc and Mirage vid so many times, I could re-enact every movement within every second of it happening onstage. Now if they re-released the concerts with the entire set list included, that would be a different story.

I have a funny feeling FM didn't pay too much attention to archiving it's shows video or audio wise except for what's been released already.

Since Tusk rehearsals that can be found on youtube are not really a part od the Tusk doc, how about cleaning up and releasing the DVD containing original Tusk doc plus added all Tuak tour rehearsals footage to it? I'd love to have that!

Cool, I'm checking it out now. I wish they'd clean up some of that footage... Don't think i've seen before that Angel outtake you have - at least not the whole thing - very nice!

The Mirage concert was only ever officially released on video. Even so, it's not the entire concert. The complete show should be released on DVD.

The Tusk documentary should be released with bonus footage.

Tango in the Night should be re-released with bonus tracks.

Mirage should be re-released with bonus tracks.

Many shows were recorded on the Tusk tour for the impending LIVE album. Surely some of those still exist.

Also, there must be some shows in the "vault" that contain documented shows from the Fleetwood Mac and Rumours tour.

I wish they would do something like Tom Petty did with his recent box set -- five discs with live versions of virtually every song they ever performed, all from various times and tours.

And then...there's so much that can be done with Stevie's catalog!

Like I said, I'm sure there is, buried in some vault at WB, is footage of a Rumours-era show that is just waiting to be found and would trump the Japan show in every way possible...even the Gold Dust Woman. The closest thing we have now is, on biglindseyfan77's YouTube channel of rare awesomeness, is some very poor-quality, single-camera footage of the Mac in Philly during the Rumours tour, but even then, she has like only 3 songs.

I'm pretty damn sure they recorded the Hollywood Bowl shows, at least the sound, which could be a very kickass look back into their heyday.

As for the TITN and Mirage reissues, some of the bonus stuff should be, aside from demos, the B-sides, such as Cool Water and Book of Miracles, even though I absolutely despise of Mirage.

Bella Donna and The Wild Heart are in terrible need of remastering.

While it's hard to imagine Mick not having already tried to market whatever he has in his vault, I am still sure they have sound boards and video that the public has never seen.
