Photoshop is the answer :-) Just two layers, one b&w as background and one only the guitar in color.

He didn't color it. It's a color picture of the guitar and a black and white picture of everything else in the background.

Speaking of coloring though, CBS will be coloring 2 episodes of I Love Lucy for a holiday broadcast.

No, I didn't. The original picture is in color. I turned it into b&w using Photoshop, cut the guitar out of the original colored picture and pasted that guitar on top of the b&w picture.

Photoshop is a program from Adobe that has to be purchased (well, ideally) and downloaded.

Pixlr.com is a web-based application that's kind of like a watered down version of photoshop, though, and you could achieve similar results for free through that.
