(I know I've been quiet...)

Tonight, my mother insisted her idiot "he's not my boyfriend, he's my friend who's a man" spend time in our apartment with us, which she encouraged through excessive vodka and tonics, ordering a pizza (which she proceeded to dribble onto the carpet), and attempting to make inane conversation that only embarrassed me and made me want to run further away from her and him. Now both of them are passed out in her bed with the door open and all the lights in the apartment off.

I actually texted my boss (at 9:30 PM) to ask where the buildings one landlord owns are (as he had mentioned I could potentially get an apartment in one of them, as a "connection") and I'm really not kidding about it...

One of these:

Is flying around my porchlight - I swear it's three inches long. I'm afraid to go out on my porch because he is flying erratically and bumping into everything.

It's terrifying.

My Gran is having a new pacemaker tomorrow and while she's only having a local anaesthetic and it's a routine operation, she's really scared. She's worried she's going to choke and die on the table because she has a syndrome that means she doesn't produce saliva, so her throat gets dry quickly. It would mean the world to me if you guys could keep her in your thoughts and prayers ♥

I had two hamburgers, kettle-fried chips, tortilla chips, fruit salad, chicken salad, multiple cans of soda, some Snapple, and a hot dog today.

Damn, I just can't eat like I used to.

You know, it's just so funny. Seriously, in every other aspect of life, I am TRULY the luckiest guy who ever lived(hell, just under $1000 check came in the mail today, for escrow overages - totally unexpected, "found" money - and example of just normal good things, that just fall in my lap!). But I'm blessed with health, reasonable financial success, okay looks, talent, good friends, good family....

But love....it's just like I'm not cut out for it. I mean, "I" try...I really do. But it's just not in the cards for me. You know, on Everybody Loves Raymond, there's one episode where Robert says, "you know, for everyone, there's supposed to be that somebody special out there for them....I think I just need to wake up and accept, that that person isn't out there for me". That's how I feel. And I hate it when my friends tell me, "oh, you're a good catch....it'll happen for you". Yeah, "WHEN? When I'm 100?"
I know how you feel....but then, by some miracle, it *did* happen for me. After telling myself that I would be single for the rest of my life, I met the love of my life at 41... He's fabulous, but if you had asked me in years previous to describe my dream man he would not have met a lot of those (unrealistic) "requirements". And yet he's cute, smart, decent, funny.....and 12 years younger. But somehow, it works! I will keep thinking positively for you because I *never* ever expected it to happen for me
