STORES
Every fabric that would let skin breathe I choose a little less As you drag me on a shopping spree This is only another test Every dress I do try on My resistance fades away Did I ever exist outside this rut? Is there a fashion consultant I pay? Every hour in Blackdress I spend My body tries to cry Sweating through each rocking night A catalog call inside I have't changed the way I dress Since MANY a year gone stale But in those years and the lifetimes past I would not ever buy retail And I shopped neither mall nor online I know Though the chance has always been So I search to find brand new Blackdress Within this bargain bin (chorus) So I try to say Goodbye Blackdress I'd like to wear you still a whole lot more But my fans have belladonna tied up in promises To visit department store Visit Department store Ooooh visit Department store We were rancid She said "Every night I shall wear Blackdress" I should have known from the first I'd look just-widowed But I wore you from the start For no wardrobe mistress would buy wholesale - Jake (Okay, time to get ready to tape Leno. And server's too busy to post again. Logging off in a moiment.)

I hate you people, making me waste time like this
You could be my black dress Threadbare hemlines ripping I would wear none of the rest Your chiffon seams my body gripping Did you say it was ugly? And did you say to change it? Baby, I don't wanna know. So I'll begin not to wear you Turn around, see me sewing I said I'd wear you years ago And tell myself it never looked good...No... Did you say that it was ugly? And did you say to change it? Baby I don't wanna know....Oh no... And can you tell me what to wear now? Really I don't wanna know. Time cast a spell on my sense But I won't change me I could've worn something else But you would not let me I'll follow my fashion till the sound Of my fans will haunt you (Give me back my dress) You'll never get away from the smell Of the woman that wears you (Was I just a prude?) I'll follow my fashion till the sound Of my fans will haunt you (Give me back my dress) You'll never get away from the smell Of the woman that wears you (Never change my dress...Never change my dress) You could be my black dress... Threadbare hemlines ripping (Thank you so much. My black dress is a great old thing.)

Wait a minute Stevie
Change that dress awhile Said you'd wear it out But you ought to burn it in the fire Drowning in your black dress Which everyone would love to change And now it's on You've got no style anymore When you change that dress Then call me home And it was just like a great dark dress Within the folds of your wardrobe I think you have found your dress It is worn out And tearing at the laces Tearing at the laces Black dress... you're the evil in her heart Never changed, never washed And now it's on It doesn't matter what for When you wear that dress I'll walk on by All I ever wanted was to know that you were changing (There's a black dress and it never really died)

If you wake up and don't want to change
If it seems just a little strange Open your eyes and look at that dress You'll see you wanna give it a rest Don't stop wearing that black dress Don't stop, it soon will tear It'll be dirtier than before Your dress is gone, your dress is gone Why not change for times to come And forget about that dress that you've done If the critics were bad to you Just think what that dress will do (chorus) All I want is to see you wear Something else in your closet there I know you don't believe that it's true That dress never looked good on you (chorus) Change that black dress Change that black dress

(My first post-1st-night-of-Leno contribution: Destiny Rules/Cardigan's Cool)
Maybe I wore cardigan Right on Blackdress Maybe I bought some new dress In a parallel universe Maybe my sleeves were not supposed t0 hang around me I've thought to change you now and then I wonder can you come off or are you sealed Sometimes I just stand As I sing into the microphone Just to make sure platform Reeboks are real Just to make sure bad hip will heal When I wear you again As I ALWAYS do It occurs to me that Blackcardigan's cool To conceal poochy stomach from the song lampooning Ledgie board These days when standing next to Venus It's just a no-glitter rule I wear no jewels Thursday night on the Tonight Show How the song choice blew I didn't sing my heart out But somehow I knew That that would be our second chance That we could pitch our new album We'd said "It's chilly, Matt Lauer, achoooo" I like the front button sweater I like Blackdress I like the way that the whole look blends Into my other nights It's like working on an Amish country Like a zipperless frock Love my Blackdress When I wear you again As I ALWAYS do It appears to me that Blackcardigan's cool To conceal poochy stomach from the song lampooning Ledgie board These days when standing next to Venus It's just a no-glitter rule I wear no jewels Cardigan's cool...

After The Fabric's Frayed
Well I haven't been out shopping much in Hollywood I haven't seen what new designs are made But what I've worn these last six years is all I know Since the IRS cracked down on bills I paid For me it's the only dress I'll wear today And a shawl or two that I have stashed away Even though the costume makes all my fans insane, it's okay I'll wear this black dress even after the fabric's frayed The fashion scare of a brand new dress is hard to take We all have habits and maybe this is dream The unchanged togs of a rock and roll woman make your eyes ache This dress keeps comin even without the platform heels For me it's the only dress I'll wear onstage And the Reeboks for when my sore ankle aches Even though the hem is trashed and seams blown away, it's okay I'll wear this black dress even after the fabric's frayed I'll keep wearing it...even after the fabric's frayed |

I'm so sorry, but I DO NOT want to see Stevie Nicks in a cardigan sweater.
With little white buttons. Over that ragged-ass dress. While on stage. That was NOT a good thing. This thread is as relevant and necessary as ever. Carry on! -Sharon
