Don't take me to the mall
and take my dress away In it I looked like an hourglass but now its threadbare and fading fast there are holes people can easily see and I who in every concert dressed the same will cough up some dough and get rid of my baine I'll close my eyes and travel back to the time when I wore white, red, and a only a little black and the words from the Ledge with echo in my head as my black dress slips away Goodbye Baby Although your clasp was broken I won't forget you Yes, you now are forboten (sp?) You were with me all of the time I'll be with you one day And I who went to sleep with needle, thread, and shears Woke up in tears, for a new dress has seemingly taken off years And I who never, never wanted to say goodbye As I sewed away Goodbye Baby Although your clasp was broken I won't forget you Yes, you now are forboten (sp?) You were with me all of the time I'll be with you one day |

Don' t take me to the Salvation Army And make me give my black dress away It was I who committed crimes against fashion And the boos and groans like shattering glass went past me Like a tunnel to Penney's And I who went went to sleep in my mob widow moo-moo Woke up with it gone and only my ghost white ass remains I close my eyes and travel back To the time when my fears went fading fast And the words my dress spoke to me I'll never forget "Slip me on along with big shoulderpads; it'll make the waist look slimmer" As I slipped into fashion victim lists Goodbye black dress I hope your threads aren't broken Don't forget the times we spent, my sweat plastering you to my back Yes I was outspoken "My dress will be with me all of the time" I'll wear you again one day And I who went to sleep in tears Woke up in cold sweats for all of the years And I who never, never said goodbye to my thrift-store threads As I slipped into the grips of the fashion police Goodbye funeral dress I hope your breast still glitters Don't forget the smell of my Atkins diet breath Yes I was outspoken "My dress is like my third ass cheek" You'll be back there one day |

Illume says the dress that we hate
Disgusting~
Says the dress that I wear At every concert, every appearnce, until the day that I die Disgusting~ The way it hangs there I am a black-wearer So dig it fool (sorry for that one, couldn't think of anything else lol ) I like the color black I like the dress I like the way I wear the same thing every night It's like living like a freakin' pauper I own one outfit With a golden shawl and a tambo I'm alone now With my dress And I how love to wear it How I can't give up All of the concerts The smell of secret solid Shadow of a pit stain I can't take this dress for granted I wouldn't trade it for Chanel or Escada Not for Donna Karan, not for any brand. I need it to be there. Just remember when I wear it That it's a cry for fashion help... This is addicting. I need to stop. Last edited by SmthngOfADreamr; 04-23-2003 at 01:57 PM.. |

She was a stinky girl
Lost in an odorous garment She was a lousy dresser Immersed in pit-stained polyester She would have preferred Brown, black, pink, and funeral frocks But that's alright She has that black dress She had a blind womans sense of fashion She makes our eyes hurt She's got a million bucks But won't buy new threads She's had a few hard times Sometimes it blows her mind Those dresses she never tried on Sometimes she wonders what they'd look like... |

LOVE the Goodbye Blackdress versions that are up already, but it's such a great song, it can afford a third:
Don't take away my power To dress myself in this And make my shape like an hourglass Since meals of carbs went shattering past My shrunk ass Like a surround-sounded exercising Trekkie And I who went to sing onstage Spun around in black, thinking it would still be the rage You'll close your eyes and travel past To the Buckingham-Nicks and Dance covers' contrast And the words you heed every ten years or so Find a new way to dress Goodbye Blackdress It's time your hem was raising Don't flatter me But my calves crowds will be praising You were with me ALL the time I'll let fans burn you today And I who still wore the dress to brood Woke up in the nude with Lindsey's 1973 attitude And I who never, never did show skin Let this rag slip away Goodbye Blackdress... - Jake (Uggh! The server is too busy & I'm waiting to post this.)

I remember him
His sense of style not strong No one dressed like him He was someone And I carried on like I couldn’t stop You need to change your clothes, baby And you, you stood in my way Stood between me and my shawl It was my sin, it was my shame You were unconscious to the pain we were in I hear there’s trouble in your closet down the hall… I remember the dress, I remember the throw Show me the way back… To the closet… |

No one looked
As I walked by My sense of style Could make a baby cry Y’said “don’t do it!” Again and again… First he took my shawl, Then he ran No one knows How I feel Just because I wear Polka-dots with lines One man walked away from me He took one look at me And ran for home! Stand back, stand back! In the middle of my room I could not dress like you Its all right, its all right…. We’ll go to Sacks in good time… (Sacks in good time…) Sacks in good time… There’s a Sale! (Sale, sale, sale, sale, sale, sale, sale, sale, sale, sale, sale) |

OK. I've decided that we really need to record this album. I think it's got hit potential.
And if all else fails, next time Edge of 17 rolls around at a concert, we can hand her copies of the album, and maybe when she listens to it, something might finally click??? |

I still vote singing telegram.
Or hey, since she watches American Idol, maybe next week's theme can be "Stevie Nicks songs that have been adjusted to persuade her to stop dressing matronly and penniless." - Jake
