She still won't feel the starvation, so that "point" that the politicians and those who believe she should live parade around is moot.

Apparently not getting kickbacks at the time when her testimony would have been required during the initial litigation process. Now that the religious right is so heavily involved in this, she's getting quite the little booty to deposit into her bank account. Her "info" has been bought.

I think it is interesting when people comment on whether she feels pain, etc. as if the non-recognition of the reality of the starving somehow justifies it.

How is it then that we cannot execute mentally ill murderers because it is considered "cruel and unusual" to execute a person who does not know that they are being executed?

You think she won't feel the starvation?! I don't agree. I don't mind taking her off the ventilator, but I can't condone starving her in the meantime. *shudder*

That was actually the point I was sticking on, and from a quick Google search I would have to say that this does seem to be the consensus. But what sort of brain activity is there?

No one knows what Terri meant by "life support" or whatever she allegedly said. Perhaps she wouldn't have said "I don't want to live if I can't swallow," but I bet if you showed her that tape you see on the news every night, that was the sort of thing she was talking about.

Speaking of getting paid, I find it interesting that Mr. Schiavo has spent over $500,000.00 of Terri's malpractice settlement on his lawyers.

She isn't on a ventilator. The only life support she is receiving is her feeding tube.

Whether she could feel it or not, I'm pretty sure they're going to have her so pumped up on morphine it wouldn't matter.

Well, so then why not just disconnect her ventilator? I mean, seriously, starvation? Sorry, I will never get over that. Starvation...

I think it's rather interesting that the politicians and the fundies comment on her starving to death, wasting away, and dying a painful death when she won't feel any pain. It's not about trying to justify anything, it's about respecting her wishes, which the courts have said were not to be kept alive.

Because Mrs. Schiavo wasn't mentally ill when she made it clear that she didn't want to continue living under such circumstances.

You don't agree with the medical community on the fact that she won't feel any pain? She wouldn't feel anything.

She isn't on a ventilator, just a feeding tube.
