Growing on me too. Especially listening to the album as a whole the song is starting to flow nicely for me. I absolutely love this record.

"Oh well"
I totally agree with this, the harmonies in the chorus remind me of Farmer's Daughter, would have been perfect with Stevie in.

Same here. It was #10 on my ranking but it's slowly growing on me, especially when I listen to the album as a whole.

The lyrics are a little sappy, but nobody writes sappy better than Christine. When she goes to her sappy place, she comes off sounding sincere, where lesser songwriters just sound like they're writing cliches.

I love the piano. I wish they used more piano on other songs, but at least they did this one. I wished that the song "Calumny" on In the Meantime had gotten this type of piano arrangement.

I have trouble getting passed the "You are the reason for my happiness..." line. I really wanted to (and thought I would) love this album but for me it goes downhill fast after the third song and only revives itself at the last song. But it's still new and may grow on me.

I literally hated Mirage on the first 2 passes. (except Hold Me and Gypsy)

Then something happened... and I became a fanboy. lol

Christine on Game of Pretend:

“Two songs are specifically about me and my journey. Game of Pretend was originally about my therapist, the guy who actually got me out of the dark place.

“It somehow morphed in the verses into a love song but the choruses are about how blessed I was that he came into my life.

Wow, I haven't heard that one, yet. Thanks for posting. Makes the song mean more to me. I find it to be a wonderful song. I love Christine and her ways.

Not for everybody, I know....
