It's The Same Song!
Well, i feel so accomplished! I was just watching this interview, and i was like, "I've heard this song before!"
Here it is: The same song at 0:55 in the tusk Documentary, as in this interview (0:45) i love by the way, listened to it a bajillion times!

I believe the song in the Tusk doc is "Stardust", an old jazz standard.

The name of the song is Maria Elena. He says so in the second video but I actually did know that.
Here is what I found out about it on Wikipedia http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria...edirected=true |

Yeah, Lindsey does kind of mumble and the audio isn't that loud. He has played that song on some radio interviews too. If you search YouTube you can find some different artists performing this song.

I still think the song in Tusk is "Stardust", but that's just what I hear.
Los Indios Tabajaras is the group. You can definitely hear the similarities between the two pieces. Either they ripped off Hoagy Carmichael, or vice versa...

Wow, this is cool. I stumbled on this. Lindsey said he used to play "Maria Elena" for his dad, so I guess I stand corrected.

I've officially become obsessed with this song...so beautiful - i can see why Mr. Buckingham loved it so much. I love Lindsey's interpretation and the way he plays it!

Ahh, how I love the Tusk documentary... Lindsey playing that song while Stevie writes in her journals, Christine looking TOTALLY bored and drunk, John hanging his head like he's dying of a hangover and disinterest, Mick just grinning like a kid watching it all unfold.
I for one adore Lindsey's love of the Spanish guitar. It's most evident on Out Of The Cradle... but even trickles down to his performance of Go Insane during the Dance era. |
