Guitar free
Is being guitar free such a bad thing? I'm not talking about Lindsey. I'm talking about his instrument? Why were they so self conscious about the dark possibility of being a piano band? They have some great piano songs: Hold Me, Angel, Sisters of the Moon, Sara, Songbird, Game of Pretend. That's one third of the set right there. Why was it never even considered that the foursome could be great?

If the intent was simply to replace the guitar (and clearly it wasn't), they could have brought Mike in on his own. He is not a singer, so he would be there for instrumental purposes only, to play guitar on Stevie and Chris's songs.
However, they thought they could replace Buckingham's voice as well as his guitar. There, I agree, NEVER! Last edited by secret love; 06-27-2018 at 07:39 PM.. |

Because they're supposed to be a rock band. You can't be much of a rock band without guitar.

They can still rock without Neil, surely?

Fleetwood Mac has always been a guitar band. The band’s history is defined by who the guitarist was at a particular point in time: Peter Green, Bob Welch, Lindsey Buckingham, Billy Burnette, Lindsey Buckingham (reprise), and now Mike Campbell.

Neil wasn't really brought in for the purpose of guitar playing as much as because Mike doesn't sing. Mike was a done deal but they still would need a male lead singer since that's way too essential to their songs to lose.
