So there will be three Fleetwood Mac shows in Vegas in a little over a week's time. I'll be at one for sure, but I'm going to try to swing the other ones as well. I hate to say this, but I don't know how many more shows they have left, so I'm going to take every opportunity that comes up.

I suppose since California is so close by, they will all be going home during the down time, but it would be cool if they made a little vacation of it and stayed here. It would be fun to see if there were any sightings of them out and about.

It seems obvious to me that if it's not John, it's going to be George Hawkins.

George Hawkins is a fantastic bass player. I love this choice.

I'm throwing positive energy out there. John Mcvie will play at both of these shows, and just be amazing. BUT, on the side of possibility that he can't make it (because he'll be kicking cancer's ass with loud bass notes) will it be the very first Fleetwood Mac show without John?

No. Bob Brunning was the band's first bassist, and was just a temp for McVie.

Rocky Burnette (Billy's cousin), who was the opening act, filled-in for John McVie in Dallas during the last leg of the "Tusk" tour, after McVie got food poisoning in New Orleans.

Ahh, righty-o. I remember hearing a little bit about the food poisoning. Thank you for the info, Steve.

Huh? Really? I got mixed feelings. I kinda don't want to think they would do it without him.

John Stewart of the Kingston Trio wrote Daydream Believer, so there is an FM tie to that song.

I kinda think they will honor the contract and there must be a reason they couldn't get out if it if they have to proceed without John.

It's possible John told them to just do the shows and not to worry about it...

My hunch would be that John told them to do the shows without him so that none of them, John included, would be liable for canceling the show.

John is historically very possessive of his bass parts, but there are practicalities. For the upcoming Vegas stuff, whether he plays or not, John will probably get most (if not all) of his usual split and I'm sure he won't mind adding that to Molly's trust fund. The two private gigs should pay a lot more than the regular concert dates do.
