Mick Fleetwood Leads ‘RebuildRecover’ Efforts Along Jersey Coast

by Chad Childers, November 9, 2012

Mick Fleetwood is one of several musicians that have banded together to help promote Move for Hunger’s ‘RebuildRecover‘ program in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

The Fleetwood Mac drummer taped a video message in which he states, “We’re all in this together, for the long haul … We are restoring, rebuilding and recovering the communities that are so dear to our hearts by getting donations directly to those in need.” The drummer added that 100 percent of the donations will go to aiding those in need along the Jersey Coast.

In addition to Fleetwood, such acts as Gaslight Anthem, the Avett Brothers, and Passion Pit have lent their support to the campaign.

Fleetwood Mac have been in the headlines of late with news that the four core members are planning to reunite for more music and a tour in 2013. Singer-guitarist Lindsey Buckingham recently stated that they had “maybe half” of their new album recorded.

Ugh, I hate this... it sounds just like the way they did SYW, with the guys recording as a unit and then bolting on Stevie's stuff.... and we know how that turned out.

Personally, if they are going to record another band album, I would want them to record it as a [I]band[I], i.e., everyone there together recording everyone's songs.

I love that Mick is leading this effort. This is a great thing, dont get me wrong. But I cant get over how he looks like an 85 year old grandma in that video wrapped in that incredibly old looking scarf. And i guess the lighting doesn't help. And you'd think considering what hes talking about, he could sound more enthused. He has way more energy when pushing wine.

I think he's deliberately restraining himself, trying to be somber and to exude gravitas so people will be moved by the serious tone and donate.

But you're right between the hat, scarf, glasses (and the glint from them hid his eyes) and white hair all over he looked like a Granny. I would not have recognized him.

It's obvious to me he's reading from a piece of paper. Once he stood up Michele, you'd know exactly who he was because he would be crouching under the ceiling and you'd see a huge hot dog in his pants.

Thumbs up

I glad to see this. It's cool to read something good about a man who has been so criticized in this and other websites. Yes he looks too old for a 65yo man (I laughed when I read "grandma"), but life takes its toll I guess, besides this is not a show trailer or a video clip, so I guess it doesn't matter how you look, whenever the message is well transmitted. And many people (politicians, leaders) read again it's no big deal .
