Can Someone Tell Me About Alex Proyas?
There is a link to Fleetwood Mac with this guy, can anyone please tell me what the link is?
He is a movie director and has a new movie called Garage Days coming out soon. Nick.

You're the one that thinks there's a link, but you don't know! Now you got me wondering what it might be, but I have no idea.

Yo Nick - here is your answer!
Alex Proyas - director, screenwriter of new Aussie flick 'Garage Days', made Fleetwood Mac videos. I wonder which ones? Maybe Mirage era? To a script co-written with one-time rocker Dave Warner and Michael Udesky, Proyas brought his act making music videos for Crowded House, INXS, Fleetwood Mac and Sting. That experience showed him the bizarre and comic underbelly of the music business, he says. The full article is here

Well, I had a look, since I'm interested in this sort of thing anyway, and I could not find out which video he directed. I think it might have been one of the videos from 'Tango In The Night', because he directed the video for 'Don't Dream It's Over' for Crowded House in 1987... it won an MTV VMA for best new artist video, coincidentally.
One disturbing factoid I found during my surfing was that the 'Big Love' video was nominated for best special effects in a video the same year. Oh well... it *was* 1987. Laura. |

Oh, I love that part of the Little Lies video, LOL! It's when we see them from inside the barn and they transform into each other... it's like you have Stevie riding the horse and then you suddenly have Mick or Lindsey or whatever. It's eerie.

Well if he directed the Big Love video he deserves thirty lashes with a wet noodle for allowing that chick to have her hair that way!
I know I have beat this dead horse before, but Geez.....that was bad 'do! It was so stiff and Aqua-Netty! Even by 80's standards. Didn't he notice? And for the record, he should tied Stevie's arms down, or hand-cuffed them behind her back, or put a tambo in her hand, just anything in the world to stop that wild swishing.

Oops... sorry I missed this thread before!
Alex Proyas directed the "Everywhere" video (I wonder if it's on his resumé ). Daniel Kleinman was the director for the "Big Love" video (as well as "Go Insane," and several videos for other artists). As for the other videos.... Hold Me - Steve Barron (Madonna's "Burning Up," Dire Straits' "Money For Nothing," A-Ha's "Take On Me," and tons of others) Gypsy - Russell Mulcahy (The Buggles' "Video Killed The Radio Star", Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse Of The Heart," Highlander, Highlander 2, The Shadow, and dozens of other music videos and movies) Seven Wonders - Marty Callner (among other things, Stevie's "Talk To Me," "I Can't Wait," "Rooms On Fire," "Sometimes It's A Bitch," and "Blue Denim"... as well as 'In Concert,' 'Live At Red Rocks,' and Stevie's close-ups for 'Tango In The Night.' Little Lies - Dominic Sena (Sting's "They Dance Alone," Richard Marx's "Should've Known Better" & "Don't Mean Nothing," Janet Jackson's "Let's Wait Awhile," and others) Sky's The Limit - David Hogan (videos for Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews Band, Goo Goo Dolls, and others) Unfortunately I don't have the director information for "As Long As You Follow," "Save Me," "In The Back Of My Mind," "or "Paper Doll"... so if anyone else has it, please post it! (By the way... Russell Mulcahy is often credited for directing a video for "Oh Diane." Does anyone have any info on whether or not this even exists? His videographies are the only place I've ever heard mention of this video.) Johnny Stew

Thanks Johnny Stew
That Russel Mulcahy is da man!
Well I have just seen Garage Days. It's 'meh', but that's my taste. My sister thought it was hilarious. I don't know if the U.S. screens will be graced with it. It's no 'Everywhere' to say the least lol!

His videographies are the only place I've ever heard mention of this video. It's real. It's just a lip-sync pseudo-performance clip. I think I've got it in either RealPlayer or Windows Media format. It's very nice -- it's just about my favorite Fleetwood Mac video! |

I didn't realize that it actually had a big-name director. Now I definitely have to see it! Johnny Stew

David is right, this "lip synch" OD "video" is probably most easily found within the UK ("Channel 4" production) FM documentary circa 1987-88 entitled "The story of FM" which is kicking around on videotape (on the NTSC broadcast signal transferred from PAL) if that's if any help.
