I really don't know for sure what issue. I haven't been able to find out. I did see a January 1985 on eBay and one cover story says something about 'Rock Turns Fashionable'. Maybe it is in there???

They way they are posed seems pretty typical of rock group or tv cast member photos in the '80s.

I like it when he holds his guitar upright. He's doing that in the Big Love video and strumming robotically and it enhances the video. Even though they aren't doing anything particularly spooky in that video, it has an eerie vibe throughout. I like it when he whips his neck around to face the camera in the end.

OK - yes, thanks, holidayroad - that jogged my memory! - my daughter reminded me that she had found it on ebay (either the whole issue or just the photo, not sure) a while back, when I first started talking about this 'old guitar dude' named lindsey buckingham. When I kept 'correcting' her - "he's not OLD, he's TIMELESS!!" , I guess she went to check it out to see who he was back then - and she sent me the photo. (and had to admit, "ok, I can see how you'd find him memorable )

Your daughter's remarks about Lindsey being this 'old guitar dude' remind me of my mom's comments on Lindsey. She was visiting not long ago and said 'I never could understand what you saw in that Old Goat anyway'.

Lindsey has been my favorite since I was almost 10 (I'm now almost 39). My mom thought it was totally strange that I found someone that much older than I am so attractive. I've heard every comment imaginable from her about how old he is! Funny thing is that my mom is close to LB's age (she's 60)! So, if he is old, what does that make her?!!

You know in that Stevie interview, Lindsey pointing out that he had to look at the neck of the guitar surprised me. I mean, cerebrally, I know he does have to look, but I just get to feeling that he doesn't, you know?

I mean, you guitarists, he can feel the chords on the body of the instrument without looking I guess. But when he's trying to achieve different pitches he has to look. I suppose that's my muddled idea of how it works.

But I liked getting that detail from Lindsey basicaly saying, "I can't look all the way up at you, I have to concentrate." It gave me insight I didn't have into what he's doing.
