Huh, interesting. I actually don't hear any new vocals from Stevie until the very end -- when she sings "in the Midnight Sky." The rest sounds like the original 1981 "Edge" recording. Anyone else?

Yes, I was thinking the same thing, I just hear the original vocals from 1981. Miley has a very similar sound to the “old”Stevie voice. I doubt any new vocals by her was added but at the very end does sound like Stevie. I really do like the song.

Stevie's singing of Midnight Sky is new. Maybe her singing Ooh, ooh, ooh. But I think she's dueting with the original vocal here too. It's a little weird that Stevie didn't record new Edge verse and chorus vocals like she did for Deep Dish "Dreams". But I guess the point of this remix is to be about 1980-81.

I like it, too! Can you believe it? I like this! I mean, it isn’t genius, but you can crank it up on the Sony Bravia 4K and Samsung audio bar, and dance around the room or use your new JumpSport Fitness Trampoline rebounder with it.

This is me on my new JumpSport with this song playing:

Oy, something isn’t right in my gut.

This is what I meant! My apologies if I got anyone’s hopes up for a totally new Edge vocal! I had just expected this “remix” to be a mashup of Edge of Seventeen and Midnight Sky, and I was so excited to hear Stevie dueting with Miley on the Midnight Sky parts. I do think there may be some layers of old and new on the Edge parts, particularly after Stevie’s “verse” and toward the end, but either way I looove the mix and I think this is a great collab!

As an aside, I never thought I’d hear Stevie sing “see my lips on her mouth”... After all the pronouns she has flipped when covering men’s songs to make them from the “woman’s perspective” the fact that she actually sang this brings an unseemly amount of joy to my cold sapphic heart.

This is really amazing and she should be applauded for it. This is a more informed and accepting Stevie. I echo your sentiments about her pronoun flipping; she was not always this way and thankfully is now walking the walk.

I like this...
It’s reignited a song that was, in its day, very exciting....
Maybe she should do an album of duets
