Orkney Blues festival

If i am not mistaken, peter will be appearing at the Orkney Blues Fesitival in Scotland, this coming September. Dates are 16th to 18th. He is to be on stage with the British Blues All Stars.

This should be something to watch for. if you live in the North of Scotland, you may wish to get a schedule, and take it in.

The proposed line up as follows:

Colin Allen - drums; Miller Anderson - guitar; Bob Hall - keyboards; Colin Hodgkinson - Bass; Dave Kelly - guitar & vocals; and of course, Peter - guitar, possibly harp, possibly vocals (I guess) .

One last piece of info. BBAS are scheduled for one performance only: Saturday September 17 (no time given).

Dear All

There appears to be some confusion about this event. Don told us that that the festival is running from the 16-18 of September this year and that Peter Green would appear in the BBAS. I did some research.

Here are three sources of information:

1. http://www.bluesmatters.com/modules....rticle&sid=945 says the following: "the 6th annual Orkney Islands Blues Festival takes place over the weekend of September 16-18th". They give a link to the "official WWW site" as http://www.orkneybluesfestival.co.uk/ and a contact. Neither the WWW site is operational bar a front out of date page with no 2007 info. The contact they list does not answer E-mails.

Maybe this is where Don got the information. But I think this information is actually for last year when the 16/9 was a Saturday through to Monday 18/9 (For 2007 it would be 16/9 a Sunday through 18/9 a Tues). Unlikely.

2. If you go to http://www.northlinkferries.co.uk/or...ents-2007.html you will find that the Orkney Blues Weekend is listed for the following weekend. 21 – 23 September 2007 That is a Friday through Sunday - which is likely. Based in Stromness - around the Ferry Inn - both visiting performers and locals provide an essential weekend for blues enthusiasts.

3. http://www.stromnesshotel.com/events.html says that the Blues Weekend is on 21 - 24 Sept 2007.

So three different dates although (2) and (3) are broadly compatible.

I was interested because we are going to be Europe in September and thought it would be a nice thing to do. That was until we worked out how much it actually costs to fly or get ferries from Amsterdam to Orkney (and the time involved).

Anyway, to clarify for those who might want to go does anyone know better with regard to the actual details?

this is the strange thing about the ledge posting
stuff seems like it just happened but the original thread started long ago

last year I was tring like hell to figure out where the orkney islands actually were.

But maybe he will come back

the link is quirky because it posts a current date when in fact the stuff you accessed was actually from their archive
