Default "Big Love" 1998 Letterman

I think this is the best live version i've ever heard. I LOVE IT! I love the fact that Stevie is doing harmony with Lindsey. I think her harmony is awesome on this. I hope they do it like this on the tour. I know they won't though.

I think the "Landslide" performed the night before was nice too.

after i listen to the letterman version with stevie, when i start to listen to lindsey alone on it...... i can still hear her! it takes me a LONG time to block my memory of her harmony out.

it is freakin' awesome.

I agree! It's amazing what they can do for each other. I know that Lindsey is the musical genius, but I think Stevie is an instinctual genius. I think (especially with such a recognizable voice) that she could easily be overkill as a backing vocalist. But this version of Big Love, as well as her backing vocals on many other songs, are perfect.
A friend of mine who is not a huge Stevie fan (unlike myself) said: She's too much for a main dish but there's never been a better side dish. I of course disagree but can easily see his point. Her subtle backing vocals on this make it my favorite live Big Love (I've never heard her sing backing on any other live version of it)

She also sang backing vocals on it at the RnRHoF induction ceremony. I missed their appearance on Letterman that night when she sang...but I really loved it on the HoF. Just awesome. I'd LOVE to hear them sing it live on this tour!

i think the RnRHoF and Letterman performances are basically equal. they didn't make any changes (that i noticed) in them.

That performance is very good...but what would be even better....? Both of them singing harmonies on the original fully electric '87 version of the song, for this tour!!! I won't hold my breath for that to happen, especially since the version that was on the VBO CD was the '97 version, but I can always hope!

Yeah, when that came out no one liked it.

I remember watching that...I stayed up all night waiting and it was awesome. I love Stevie's harmonies but I was the only one! How cool that people like it now.

RRHOF was a totally magic thing, because they start together...I still get goosebumps. .........

I still want to hear when David Letterman played Big Love and made fun of the love grunts!!!!

Man, as much as I love the acoustic version, I'd LOVE to hear a full blown electric version with percussion along with Lindey & Stevie trading grunts. WOULDN'T THAT BE CRAZY?

I saw an interview from 1992 when David Letterman did that - I actually was a little embarrassed for him because he kept yelling "Stevie got something in her throat there!" and Lindsey's like "um....that....that was me." lol

By the way, David Letterman really seems to genuinely like Lindsey and Stevie and his interview with them are my favorites - like when he teased Stevie about being her ex-husband. Dave's not as cool as he used to be, but he's still the one whose interviews are the best!
