Heart Speaking of Christine...

I just read that her new album is due out in September/October of 2003. She signed with Warner, apparently. This may be old news to some of you, but hey... I'm excited, lol.

Smile Thanks!

It's new news to me. Thanks for that.

I must admit, I'm VERY surprised Warners would agree to letting CM record for the label, put out the album and not force her to tour for it, but that MUST be what has happened (as I'd be EVEN MORE suprised if she gave in to touring demands I'm sure they would impose if WB had their way) but whatever, I'm happy there will be a release later this year and I'm looking forward to it.

Me too, but minus the smoky part. ;^)

I don't understand why there can't be a place for people who don't want to tour heavily or even at all really. I mean Brian Wilson stayed in bed for a long time remember and he has made loads of money for a number of people. I have worked as a writer and artist and it depresses me that to go far you are expected to be on the road all year just to make pals with readers. It's too bad that's what works in a lot of areas of entertainment; gearing things toward fans who want photos with you and your autograph on everything. I can live without people having shrines to me in their house, although some have shrines for Barbie dolls. I think this is more a N. American trend really. Some 'fans' are very good sources of information and are interesting people in their own right but some are more like attached to people they don't really know in terms of defining their own identity. I am glad Christine doesn't have so many fans nowadays for her sake. :^) I'm sure those who value her work will buy it regardless of seeing her in person. I know what it is like to feel your life invaded by people based just on them buying your creative work, it can go too far and effect you as an artist and your concept of your audience. I am glad Christine has sometimes said what others have been afraid to and hope she doesn't get punished for it too much.

"Well I'm soooo excited!
The songbird's on her way -
I just cant wait,
I can't wait another day!"

Meanwhile I just don't see her touring very much at all given all that I've read of what she's said in regards to touring and even simply performing, versus being in the studio. In fact, other than Songbird, I'd say that she would rather do shows with the Mac where she can snuggle into the rhytm section rather than be out solo, smoky-dive style. That said, wouldn't some one-off appearances be grand.

I hope this happens this fall. I don't think there is any chance at all that she will tour for this album. Maybe a few brief appearances with Fleetwood Mac if they come to England, something similar to what Lindsey did near the end of the Behind the Mask tour. A nice little low key club appearance would be terrific, but I really doubt that's going to happen. I do think that she'll have to do at least a little promotion for the album. I'd love to see her do another online chat. She wouldn't even have to leave her house for that.

I agree with what Becca and Adam just said. I've enjoyed the live shows that I've seen, but now I'd just like to get the music. Many of the albums I have, I've never seen the artist live, which is fine with me.

If she doesnt tour, do you think she will promote it AT ALL? IE : Like talk shows, etc

To let everyone know its out there and coming out and stuff....and I also think a a few small spaced out club tours would be great for her...like 2 weeks here, 2 weeks there

I would treat the information regarding Christine's solo album posted on Pause&Play with a pinch of salt, I mailed Ken Calliet regarding this and he knew nothing about it, the album is still being recorded and no label or release date has been set yet.

I have been told that updates will follow from Bright Music.

For once we Mac-deprived Brits have the advantage over you U.S. fans! If Christine does tour small clubs/do TV shows, 99% chance it'll be here (at least before she goes anywhere else!!)....so I am REALLY looking forward to this new album!!
