I'll shorten this list to artists I would buy most/all of the albums of (at least if I had the money), 3+CD compilations, or honourable mentions:

Bryan Ferry & Roxy Music
The Moody Blues
ELO
Dire Straits
Sting & The Police
Pink Floyd
The Alan Parsons Project
John Lennon & The Beatles
Don McLean
Tracy Chapman
Phil Collins & Genesis
Lou Reed & The Velvet Underground (a recent discovery)
The Doors (I bought all their studio albums for my Dad actually, as he likes them more than I)
Cat Stevens (I recently spent $32 each on Deluxe versions of Tea For The Tillerman and Teaser And The Firecat! )

It would be a fair bet that I'll later think of artists that I wish I didn't forget to put here...

Are the shows there any good?
Yes! I lived in Holbrook for ten years. ( have some questions/curiosities/will be messaging you via FB)

I've heard about Gateway Playhouse in Bellport for quite a while now (I personally saw something there about 20 years ago as well)- I think it will be a good experience.. especially for something like Avenue Q, which is rather light in the scenery requirement. As long as the actors are competent, and they have legit puppets (especially the Bad Idea Bears), it should be a seamless transition!

Definitely not. That doc was made in 2002, I was probably either finishing elementary school or going to junior high, and I didn't know the Mac at all (didn't know 'em till about 2007 and back then, I was into rap and top 40 pop). Besides, I heard that doc was about day laborers, which I have seen firsthand around town. It is a real problem with them standing on the street corners all day and I have seen protesters sometimes, even with people videotaping it.

Looking at these band lists, I was suprised at the number of metal bands I see, and I gotta admit that i thought I was pretty much the only F-Mac fan/metalhead around here, but that's cool. BTW, a quick clarification with Metallica: I don't like anything after the Black Album, but my favorite album is Master of Puppets.

Nawp, not the only metalhead. I am as equally at home at Mac/Stevie shows as I am at Mastodon or Machine Head shows (and I just realized I forgot to put Machine Head on my list - a sad omission, for Robb Flynn is very cuddly & also they rock). My Mac/Stevie & other classic rock goodies share space on the shelf with my black metal & doom metal goodies, like one big demented family.

I also forgot to add anything Mike Patton related to my list - from Faith No More to Tomahawk to Lovage to Peeping Tom to Fantomas.

Same here. The Mac and other classic rockers share room with my thrash metal-ers. I just have a very wide tastes when it comes down to pretty much everything (for example, I read a lot, and I read anything from classics to Calvin and Hobbes comics), so the music is just another extension of my tendency to wide tastes.

Still, that's awesome you like Machine Head too. I love The Blackening and I can't wait for a new album to come out next year.

Yup yup.

Been a big MH fan ever since someone handed me a copy of Burn My Eyes when I was about 14.

I went to Mayhem Fest a couple years ago with a friend, pretty much specifically because MH was going to be there. There were a couple of other bands I wanted to see, too - Mastodon, Walls of Jericho - but mostly MH.

At one point, we hopped into a line that I thought was for the free cans of Rockstar - but all of a sudden, some big burly security dude is telling us that no one else can get in line behind us for the Machine Head signing, and I was like, "Wait, whaaaaat?"

So I ended up buying another copy of The Blackening right there for them to sign for me. Robb Flynn is even more freakin' gorgeous in person, too, like - oh man. We chatted for a bit, and he signed my CD, gave me a poster & signed that, and then gave me one of his picks. Before I moved on, he hopped up and gave me hug & a kiss on the cheek.

I was exceedingly proud of myself for not immediately melting into a puddle of goo all over his boots. I managed to make it through the rest of the guys signing my stuff and out of line before I was all "OMG, DUDE!" all over the place.

My pics & video from that day are on the laptop that is currently out of commission, but here's a random photo of Mr. Flynn anyway so I can just, y'know, bask in his awesome for a moment. Feel free to bask along with me. The more, the merrier! It'll be a group basking.

Ready? Set? BASK:

Yessiree. Om nom nom.

I actually had no idea what he looked like at all, but then again, I took forever to figure out which guy in Metallica was Kirk Hammett. Hell, if I ever met a rock star, I'd probably end up passing out (and they're from a small list, accidently-on-purpose fall onto their lap lol).
