That "Madge" song that was on Then Play ON, that was about a fan that followed the band in the 60's, right?

Yeah, she was the first president of the Fleetwood Mac fan club.

But then they dropped those Buckingham Nicks songs before they dropped most of those pre-1975 Fleetwood Mac songs, so who knows what happened there. I think all the recordings we have of the Mac playing "Don't Let Me Down Again" and "Frozen Love" date to 1975.
Oh, of course there's the one-off of "Don't Let Me Down Again" from 2004, but then it could be claimed that it is better known as a Fleetwood Mac song than as a Buckingham Nicks song because of its inclusion on the 1980 live album (we all know which one sold more copies). That's why the TITN tour line-up did it as well, plus the fact that out of all Lindsey Buckingham songs up to that date it suited Billy Burnette the best.

Culled from one long (17+ minute) jam (listen to "The Madge Sessions, Part 1" on the Vaudeville Years set)

An amazing jam it is. I'm hoping for more of those types jams to be released to the public some day.

And one is credited to Mick Fleetwood, and the other John McVie. That was so kind of Peter!

I'm not surprised at that knowing Peter's lack of celebrity desire.

That was probably just Peter being kind, sharing
out some royalty money to the rhythm section,
as the songwriter of any group is always the best off
financially. Especially if there are major hits, like they had
"man of the world" and "albatross" at the time.
