Default My hopes...

I really hope that Stevie walks away from Fleetwood Mac after this tour just to give all the boo hoo'ers here what they want. Then she can go on and make a few more fairly successful solo albums and do interviews and TV shows. FM can disappear into the sunset and play casinos and county fairs. This is a band to which she is the most famous and popular face. Get over it!! If she goes, their ability to draw any kind of crowds to shows or sell albums will GREATLY diminish. If that is how you want FM to end their career, so be it. They would likely have one final tour that will be lightly attended and then be gone for good. Let the attacks begin but I wont be reading them. I am so done with this board.

I hear FM is in the running for a spot as regulars at "Micks Island Luau"

This is Micks worst nightmare having Stevie or Lindsey leave the band again.

I love to see Stevie or FM play at country fairs .

At this point this thread is starting to get me alittle annoyed in either direction .

Yes I do know we all want to see FM record with all members including me.
What ever happens. It happens or it will happen.

We got to calm down and take a chill pill and relax and stop dwelling over this new album. Its not healthy and Its not worth loosing sleep over a Two
things I will loose sleep over is worrying about their health and beating up themselves on no resting time. The other is getting headaches reading these threads with us dwelling on these topics.

John .Hang on there .I understand your frustration I've been there with this board.

We all should take a break from this and enjoy the upcoming holidays and those that still have to go see FM in the next couple of weeks . Just enjoy the shows .

wow, I don't think I've read any comments here with people saying at all this is how they WANT the band to end their career.

It seems to be the message being given off by certain members of the band itself.

Everyone here has said they WANT a new album from this band one more time. Most members of the band have said this also.

All but one.

I don't think Stevie really affects their album-selling power much. Her solo albums don't well....I wouldn't call them "fairly successful" and a fleetwood Mac album won't be a huge seller with or without her but the name alone could probably sell more than 24 Karat Gold and In Your dreams.

Fleetwood Mac should have completed an album before touring. Period. Instead, they used touring as an excuse to grease Christine's wheels, which surely didn't need greasing at all, and because of the rush to play shows, another Fleetwood Mac album may never come to be. Oh well. Those angry at Stevie over this situation need a harsh wake-up call. She doesn't owe Fleetwood Mac anything. She's given her life to them - they brought her great success and she has returned that many, many times over. I would love an album as much as many of you, but this band put cash on a pedestal long ago, and new albums are not as lucrative as touring. Stevie has every right to put her own career first, and unless Stevie is secretly the boss of them all, there is *nothing* stopping the rest of Fleetwood Mac from making albums to their heart's content. This all or nothing position has got to go.

Yes I agree on having the album done before a tour.Thats for any artist or band .Its like putting the horse behind the buggy then in front of it.

I agree. I don't think a new Fleetwood Mac album will exactly burn up the charts, with or without Stevie's participation. That said, I do think that if the band tried to tour without Stevie, their ticket sales would drop considerably. I don't, for example, think they'd be able to fill Madison Square Garden without her....But it's possible they could still fill Radio City Music Hall with Christine and Lindsey leading.

I hope it never comes to that, though. This band needs to end on a high note, with everyone on board.

The band had five months between the last tour being canceled and tickets going on sale for the current tour. That was more than doable.

Yep the naysayers will be crying in their soup over the loss of Stevie and her goodness, I am sure. They will want to take back every unkind word they ever said about the Queen of Rock and beg the forgiveness of her and her insulted fans.

I don't think she and FM are parting ways. I don't want them too, but if they do, I also don't expect to see FM touring on a bill with Pat Benatar again. Rather than become lounge acts, they will simply retire and I'd rather them do that than sit around waiting for Stevie to graciously agree to gift them with her vocals. If this is their last tour as FM, so be it. I just don't want SYW to be their last album. I'd rather have an FM album without Stevie than another FM tour with her.

Meanwhile, if Stevie's solo tours are enough for her creatively and financially, so that when she retires she leaves herself, Waddy, Sharon, Lori and her personal staff all secure and she has tired of the FM world of stadium-sized concerts, press conferences, private planes and limos, which she says make her feel like Robert Plant, then I wish her the best of luck, walking into that twilight.

I'm sure most of them hoped that was going to be the case.

She does if she chooses to remain in the band.

"Many, many times over"? I could almost get behind that, except that Christine had the most hits with Fleetwood Mac. Just sticking with this particular line-up, Christine and Lindsey had bigger hits off of their last studio album than Stevie (who really didn't even write that song), and that was when Stevie still had hit singles off of successful solo albums. So, no, she's always just been a part of a much bigger picture, and audiences know this, hence the bigger ticket prices, bigger venues, and second shows added in some some cities with the return of Christine, all just under a year of their last tour without Christine.

That's a bit of a strawman. Who has said otherwise?

Quote:
This all or nothing position has got to go.
Why? This is a position she has had regarding the others for years. Remember when Stevie said on August 18, 1987 (the press conference announcing Billy Burnette and Rick Vito) something along the lines of "we could wait another five to ten years for Lindsey to come around, but we're trying to preserve the entity of Fleetwood Mac, which is bigger than Stevie Nicks or Lindsey Buckingham..." Remember when she said Christine couldn't record songs for SYW and not tour? It would be hypocritical to change that now.

That's never going to happen again. Again, the band would still have most of the classic line-up, so they could still go on. It's not like they couldn't do the talk shows and play smaller venues while still remaining viable.

Christine just came out of retirement. I don't see her being too eager to go back into it right now. Christine wants to work, specifically with Lindsey, Mick, and John, and preferably with Stevie.
