Default Billboard formula says ROF bigger hit than Gypsy (!)

I'm always amazed that Gypsy didn't crack the top 10 (same with Rooms On Fire..although by that point in her career Stevie was losing steam with her singles charting). According to this Billboard article which ranks Stevie's 10 biggest singles (peak position combined with weeks on the chart, etc.) Rooms On Fire lands at number 10 and Gypsy isn't on there at all (although her other FM singles are: Dreams, Sara & Rhiannon).
This seems ironic to me considering I hear Gypsy fairly regularly on certain stations but NEVER hear Rooms On Fire. EVER.

I dont know where they are coming from with that but I think Gypsy is a bigger hit. Also why are they talking about FM song with her solo songs.

Because it doesn't matter only how high a song has reached, it also matters the time a single has stayed in the chart, so a song that reached n' 1 but quickly fell from the chart has less points than a single that reached a lower position like n' 10, but stayed in the chart for much more weeks.

I have said it before Rooms on Fire is a very solid pop rock single..Gypsy while a classic and sublime really doesn't even have a chorus. The same with Sara .

They are looking at songs that she has wrote & sang -doesn't matter if it's solo or with the Mac. I think it's more interesting that way (since no one ever does it that way) to see where solo hits rank against Mac hits.

This is a ridiculous thread. Gypsy charted higher. It was a better song and had more stiff competition. Rolling Stones formula is bogus.

I can't believe that I Can't Wait did better on Billboard's list than Rooms on Fire. Very surprising.

Gold Dust Woman was never a single so it would never be a hit anyway. And Landslide was never a single either until the live version from The Dance.

Silver Springs would unofficially be considered a hit because although only a promo single, it received enough points to chart high I believe but could be wrong

lol ok but the discussion is about her hits and saying Gold Dust never hit the top 40 makes it sound like you were discussing its chart success as if it had ben a single :-p

I'm just saying that Gold Dust, Landslide and even Silver Springs are even mor popular than what is on the list.
