Heard Think About Me on the 80's channel yesterday. Mark Goodman was talking what a great song it is and Christine is known for ballads so it was an interesting change.

Loved Mark Goodman during the Fleetwood Mac Attack on MTV during the Tango promotion. I think we got a full weekend of interviews, videos at the top of the hour, and concerts.

Christine's singles aren't really ballads. SYLM, YMLF, Don't Stop, Little Lies, Everywhere, Think About Me, Over My Head, Love In Store, Save Me, Got A Hold On Me, Love Will Show Us How. As Long As You Follow (ballad) Hold Me, I'd Rather Go Blind (could be a ballad). But then, what's his definition of ballad?

All because of Songbird? She's been typecast!

Yes maybe. I also believe people confuse love songs or songs about love with ballads. Not all love songs are ballads. Not all ballads are love songs. This reminds me of my college logic class. True or false.
If some ballads are love songs.
Some non ballads are non love songs
Love songs are not always ballads

I don't consider Think About Me a love song. Although it has classic Christine love obsession in it. She's happy with the state of her relationship. So maybe it is a love song.

well.... not entirely. It's kind of a classic Chris theme of being in a relationship with a man who isn't treating her as well as she deserves. And during the Tusk period that was definitely Dennis Wilson. He was a known cad, he was totally unfaithful to her (which she knew and put up with. I get he was very charming, and possible very good in bed but....), he mooched plenty of money off her (even that famous heart shaped garden he had dug in her backyard she paid for because he had the bill sent to her.. .. even though it only got half done), got wasted and trashed her house (stories of him and his buddies destroying antiques and chandeliers and things) trashed her vehicles (didn't he crash her Rolls?).

I don't hold you down
And maybe that's why you're around
But if I'm the one you love
Think about me

You are so correct. Many of Chris's songs are love themed but not being treated that well from the guy. Even in the love inspired "Say you love me" she throws down the ultimatum of "if you use me again, it will be the end of me" Songs like Over My Head, Never Make Me Cry fit that theme very well.
Then there are those songs like Ask Anybody where she is torn between love for someone and the way she is being treated.

the new HULU show -- "THE ACT" uses "Proove Your Love" as it's theme song. It's shocking and wonderful to hear the song in that context. Also, the show is VERY good!
