Having NEVER heard the original...

It has hints of the same beat from the opening track of Rumours.

I also hear high harmony parts that are fillers for a missing Stevie just like in She smiled Sweetly and a few other LB solo tracks. Stevie would have been great on this with sped up vocals to get her pitch higher.

I don't hear Christine but then again I'm listening on my iPhone.

It has a best to tap my foot too, a catchy hook, and doesn't hurt my ears.

The ONLY thing I don't like is Lindsay's somewhat labored and frog croaking in the opening.

By a country mile the best song so far released from the album. I really like it.

I do like it better than the first two tracks released....but again, it just sounds like a Lindsey solo track. I don't even really hear Christine on the chorus. And I think the chorus would have sounded better with some Stevie vocals on it, sorry!

Yeah, I sort of feel the same. I can't say that I hate it, but I can say that's it's just OK for me. I can say that's it's definitely a toe tapper.

Best of the songs to drop so far. I had not heard it before.

Additional thoughts

1). This would've been stronger with more John and Mic. With a rhythm arrangement more like YMLF it would've felt very MAC.

2) I would've like it a tick faster.

Still the best of the batch so far...to me.

I agree but damn this could've been a spot on Mac hit if it had all five members and was arranged to showcase them. This is the first MAC sounding song from LB since GOS album in my opinion.

This was always one of my top 3 SWS songs (along with SWS (electric) and the sublime When She Comes Down), so I'm glad to hear it revamped and with its proper place opening an album. I like that someone compared it to SHN. I think that's appropriate. Stevie has robbed us of a real Mac masterpiece album.

The first three tracks sound perfect together. I also wish there was more Christine presence in tracks 2 and/or 3. I agree that the songs seem more designed for Stevie to join in, but some Christine "ooohs and aaahs" would have been welcome.

I'm not a keen enough listener to tell if there is a difference in the rhythm section(?) other than the additional percussive instruments (that seem to bop up all over my head phones) which may be Mick or Lindsey(?).

I like the new bridge.

I like the momentum.

I am curious though. I have ideas about what the SONG means, but what does the phrase "sleeping around the corner" mean? Like, literally he's saying: "I'm here for you. If you need me I'm just sleeping around the corner."

Why sleeping? Why around the corner? Like, just that phrase: what does it mean?

--

In terms of interpretation of the SONG, I read it as about Lindsey balancing artistic (dream) activity with family responsibility and dependency and love.

Default maybe there's more like this...

Having not been a fan of the first two songs, this was a little different. I think that this is the closest thing musically to a FM track in some time from any of the members. But then there are the lyrics. They just seem silly at times. I can listen to this one in the background and probably end up humming along. The chorus needs better verses. If this had some more prominent Christine involvement, I'd be hopeful about the album. Still skeptical this is going to be what people want it to be. Couldn't compare this to the solo version as I gave up on listening to Lindsey solo a while ago. The first couple lines of this song are the exact reason why I did that. At least that ends quickly.

My opinion - the music itself is very "ok". Vocals are weird, but I expect that with Lindsey. It's not horrible, like the second single was. I guess I just expect more, given the experience these guys have. Again, where is Christine?
With all due respect to Stevie, I don't think she could've added anything to any of these songs so far.

This one I like a lot. Hooray!

It's got more complexity than the first two, and it's catchy without being cloying.

I think that's Christine singing harmony at 0:26 & 2:36. Correct me if I'm wrong. But of course, I'd love more of her in this. Come on Lindsey.

First impressions, I love the variety of textures in this, different sounds coming in for the chorus and being stripped back for the verse - love Lindsey's vocal and the disjointed effect in the verses.

Really powerful chorus as well sonically - a lot of sound coming out to you - lots of percussion and guitars, and the vocal line is almost anthemic and very modern.

Up to the standard of In My World.

The best song so far! Traces of TITN and Mirage here and there. Can't wait to hear it live!

Love this song.
Also she calls him her "sweet darling" - echoes of "Think of me sweet darling every time you're feeling sad" etc from Come.
