Default Indy 500!

The Indianapolis 500 is tomorrow. Who is watching? It's the biggest spectacle in all of sports with over 300,000 attending. There are three women drivers this year with Danica Patrick a favorite. GO DANICA!

Just got back from the night before the race party.
Dude, I'm getting old.
When I was a teenager, at 3 am night before the race, I'd be trashed and ready to go on another walk. Here I am at thirty, had a few shots and a couple of beers, only went out to walk once, and already home in bed at 3 am.

I'll listen to it on the radio tomorrow, because they delay showing it on tv here until later on at night. Hell, who knows... I might just see if my girls want to go tomorrow. General Admission tickets are only $20.... it'll give us something to do.

GO DANICA!!!

**haha!
On a side note, one of my friends was saying that the crowd keeps getting younger and younger every year... i told her it was just us getting older... haha!

What is "out to walk"? Where? Is this some sort of tradition in Indianapolis?

Danica didnt won, no surprise!!! I feel she hasnt shown the potential that everyone seems to see in her - One win means not much these days.

Oh well, The Indy 500 spectacle isnt what it once was...Which is sad, but nooones fault other than the IRL.

THANK GOD the Coca-Cola 600 is coming on now...Make ya a bet Danica will be in a COT sooner than later since all the main stars of open wheel racing head to where the $$$ is at (Even after most promise not to leave), NASCAR!!!

I hope not. The last thing NASCAR needs is her PMSing after every race because someone moved her out of the way.

I love the Indy 500 & the Nascar races & that whole subculture of sportscar racing & pileups & fans with their big plastic cups of beer & their cracks showing, &c.

It's completely American: the combination of high speed & complete relaxation. It's a milieu that I feel warrants further study. Can any of you recommend a good book on the subject? I still mourn the loss of Dale Earnhardt.

Ha Ha. Did you see her stomp off in a tizzy after getting bumped on pit lane. Track security had to escort her away before she got into it with the offending driver. Last year she threw a punch at Dan Wheldon.

Yeah, she definitely needs to grow up. And no, I'm not jumping on her because she's a woman. All the other drivers would be repremanded if they went after her for doing something stupid to them, but it seems to be okay when she goes off and acts 1/10th her age.

I'm wondering if women are really suited to driving race cars. Sarah Fisher wrecked and was crying during the post accident interview which she cut short. The guy she wrecked, while certainly unhappy, was not in tears over it.

There was more to Sarah Fisher's story than her just getting wrecked. She went into the race with her own team and a signed contract with a company promising to sponsor her race car. Problem is, the sponsor never sent the check and Fisher had already spent money on a car and getting ready for the race today and a few others later this season. Had she been able to stay on the track and finish the race and not get into any major trouble, she could have made it to the race at Kentucky Speedway in a month, but we saw what happened today. Given the circumstances and the pressure she has been under this month, I honestly don't blame her for crying. Hopefully someone will put their name on the side of her car so she can race a few more times at least this season.

I heard about the sponsor problems. Personally, I like Sarah Fisher over Danica, but she just doesn't have the big money to field a competitive car. I don't think she has ever finished an Indy 500, crashing out every time. This year she took out one of the leaders. Sadly, I think we have seen the last of her.

At least Sarah has better trackside manners than Danica.

They close down streets where everyone goes out to party. And what a drunken party it usually is. It's pretty hilarious. I'll post pictures soon.

Please do. I guess this is similar to Derby parties in Louisville....a whole week of festivities.
