I don't really care for it much either. I like the solo but then it should be longer. Especially since the album as a whole is short on solos. The rest of the song doesn't really do it for me. They're going for that ISA feel, I assume, but it's nowhere near the song ISA is.

I wonder if Rumours would have enjoyed the same success that it did if, in 1977, every moron was able to memorialize their irrelevant stupid opinion as if it mattered. Sad days.

Don't think the name calling is necessary.

This new album ain't Rumours but it is better than Time and Behind the Mask and may even sell more than Time. Personally I love Carnival Begin.

I think what rubbed Sandy the wrong way is that someone started an entire thread to voice their dislike of one song.I think Feel About You should be swirling around in a commode but I wouldn't start a thread devoted to it.

Everyone keeps noting the link between Carnival Begin and I'm So Afraid. But when I hear the former I think a lot more of Smile I Live For. All three songs share a common thread. What people don't note is that I'm So Afraid was heavily influenced by Fleetwood and the McVies. They took a folk dirge with excellent guitars and turned it into an Afro-percussive Blues.

Carnival Begin is probably my second favorite on the album. I love it. Fantastic writing and mystical. I love when Christine drifts from pure love songs to mystical love songs
I recognize it for its creativity.

We all have different likes but I am confused by the title of this thread..."I don't GET"
It does not say, I don't like. It implies you don't understand the context of the song which is a shame. Christine writes brilliantly with metaphors and subtle texts. Its a very well crafted song.
Does she have to explain how someone's love is like a circus wheel? But she does elaborate and explain.....changing all the time.
If you think about her adjectives, metaphors, and symbolism you will completely understand the song.

She actually explains it in the doc.

Listen to it from the persepective that it is about Christine's return to the band. Also, one can hear where Lindsey is filling in for Stevie with the extended backup/background sustained note as she is want to do. It's dark and mystical like 'I'm So Afraid', 'The Chain', 'Gold Dust Woman', 'Oh, Daddy' (Alternate with Stevie backing), 'Tango In The Night', 'Behind The Mask', 'In The Back Of My Mind', 'Sooner Or Later', and 'Illume', to name a few other works sharing a common dark, magical thread in the Fleetwood Mac tapestry. 'Carnival Begin' is classic Mac with meaning, depth, and fine guitar work and solo.

Exactly!
Your words are better than mine. I love the mystical side of the Mac. When Christine ventures into the realm of mysticism its pure magic like Oh Daddy, Bad Journey, etc.
Its textures, colors, feelings, and emotions for my ears.
You are correct....its classic Fleetwood Mac even to the early years.
