Gene Simmons - severe case of C.Y.A.
GENE SIMMONS - "DEPRESSION IS VERY SERIOUS AND VERY SAD WHEN IT HAPPENS TO ANYONE, ESPECIALLY LOVED ONES"
http://bravewords.com/news/gene-simm...lly-loved-ones In the wake of actor/comedian Robin Williams' death - reported as a suicide - there has been an increased focus on depression and its effects, which led to Williams taking his own life. In an interview with Songfacts.com, KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons addressed the subject of alcoholics, drug addicts and people who suffer from depression. His less than sensitive comments were met with outrage from the public and fellow musicians alike. Simmons has now issued the following statement via his Facebook page: "I want to make this statement about my views on depression for the record and to clarify my prior remarks. To the extent my comments reported by the media speak of depression, I was wrong and in the spur of the moment made remarks that in hindsight were made without regard for those who truly suffer the struggles of depression. I sincerely apologize to those who were offended by my comments. I recognize that depression is very serious and very sad when it happens to anyone, especially loved ones. I deeply support and am empathetic to anyone suffering from any disease, especially depression. I have never sugarcoated my feelings regarding drug use and alcoholics. Somewhere along the line, my intention of speaking in very directly and perhaps politically incorrectly about drug use and alcoholics has been misconstrued as vile commentary on depression. Unkind statements about depression was certainly never my intention. Fully, you will know that and I do not intend to defend myself here and now, by listing the myriad charities and self-help organizations I am involved with. Rather, I simply want to be clear that my heart goes out to anyone suffering from depression and I deeply regret any offhand remarks in the heat of an interview that might have suggested otherwise."

He doesn't seem to have any awareness that some people are physically/in the brain chemistry not able to 'just not be' depressed, anymore than someone can just cure them self of cancer or whatever else. And being from the NY area does not excuse being ignorant, ya schmuck.
He did spout these great opinions in the music press (based on solely himself and the vast wisdom that only whatever he has experienced is real) sometime before Williams did what he did however. As Kiss was something pretty obviously exclusively for twelve year old boys why would anyone but them listen to him? |

Ignorant people who attain fame and somehow think they know it all, really piss me off.
He may be riding the wave of publicity and knows what to say to draw attention, he seems to be THAT money hungry.
