Default I'm so Afraid( studio vs. live)

This about Lindsey's voice. In the studio, it's really high pitched, even for him. Whereas, on all the live recordings that I've seen/heard, he does the vocals in a deeper voice.

A. Which do you prefer, and why?

B. Are there any recordings that are high pitched like the studio version?

A. don't even have to ask - deeper of course. (as to why see all my gripes about his young high voice )

B. live recordings? no idea but i'm sure someone will know.

I forgot to put my opinion.

I like his voice deeper. I'm all for a manly man . That being said, there's something about his higher pitched voice that just draws me in.

Original studio version recorded in the key of Gm. (in which Lindsey has been quoted as saying almost from the moment the album was released that he should've re-recorded it in a lower key)

Live versions from '75 up through The Dance played in the key of Fm.

Not sure, but I could've sworn that on the 2003 tour & later he's played it in Em.

So it's evolving into lower keys AND getting played slower & slower & slower each tour. Pretty soon it'll get so low & slow that he'll switch from guitar to bass to do the solo.

Like I said, there's something about the higher pitch/key that draws me in.

I'd love to see the look on John's face if Lindsey "borrowed" one of his basses for the song.

rimshot please!

I'm hearing his voice on the new live versions
as something like Prince's opening to 1999.

Lindsey would deny it was John's, but since John writes down the serial number of all of his instruments ...

There's an album version of I'm So Afraid?

Seriously I hardly ever listen to it. My fav's are the 1980 live and the Dance versions.
