Question thoughts on firing?

i have a range of thoughts, some are -
  • shocked and sad for how betrayed he must feel
  • happy he's not tied down for the next 2 years with the stale oldies act
  • excited he can instead finally fully focus on his creative endevours
  • can't wait for the solo album(s) he promised will be out this year and next
  • can't wait for the solo tour (hopefully this fall!) - we didn't have one since 2012!
  • frustrated that although fans and general public are supporting him so hard right now, by the time he finally announces the Best Of album and tour this great momentum will be gone
  • know better than to hope he will actually have a successful social media campaign to let people *know* he's touring

I am angry
I am sad
I am bitter
Lindsey wanted so much more for Fleetwood Mac but they just want to play oldies
I wanted one more album
I wanted one more tour
Shame on all of them

I'm angry.
I'm dismayed.
I'm piss off at the disrespect the band has showed him.
I'm sick and tired of Stevie Nicks highjacking this band
The irony that they want to play the hits that he crafted. Without him they will be a lounge act.
I hope this tour fails spectacularly and they come crawling back and he tells them to suck it.
I'm pumped for so much new music, new tours and vitality.
I hope he has no Fleetwood Mac music in his tour, only solo material.

Turn It On Linds.

Shocked/angry
Not surprised
Happy to now at least get some more new music.
I get it.... He's not just about the "hits tour"
I figured he would be in the "last chapter of the MAC".... But I guess not.
Disconnect....between Buckingham/Nicks on the future of the MAC as it relates to releasing new music.
I will get over it....I love all the versions of this band.

I'm all over the place
My heart is broken cause I wanted a final album and a final tour even if it was the same songs we've heard a gazillion times.
I'm enraged AF for him being fired--just typing the word 'fired' pisses me off. Ready to take out my earrings and fight!
My brain says this is the most FM way of doing FM--of course they're doing all this krazy **** after Chris came back and Stevie's tour was successful and BuckVie was stupendous. What other outcome would be as FM as this??

i think all of this played a role in the implosion.

Lindsey saved their a**es so many times in the life / near death / bankruptcy situations, if what they tell us can be believed. that's some heavy personal stuff, besides what he did on the musical side. yet none of that apparently means anything, just drop him at the end. because he's difficult? please! he was way more difficult over the course of the last 50 years. why was he not fired, if they couldn't stand it, 40 years ago during the Tusk tour when some bad stuff was happening? nah that was apparently nothing, now somehow he became too difficult. after a lifetime together. before the last tour. pleeeeaaase.

Back the original question, I agree betrayal by people he has helped is the most disturbing aspect of this situation. He helped Stevie with her songs and he helped Mick when he was a broke addict. Creative tension fueled the music but it was Lindsey’s hard work that turned them into accessible songs with a distinct sound that made them all rich and paid for their habits and addictions: in the studio - finding the perfect sound or arrangement (even placing an importance on the order of the tracks on the album); the rehearsals, the attention to detail to put on a perfect show night after night, much like a Broadway musical (even if that brought with it very rehearsed speeches); and finally, his efforts to marry a solo tour with the big machine perhaps which would allow fans reasonably priced access to see the genius behind the FM sound likely would not reflect well on the big corporate machine. All of the hard work, supposed friendship and loyalty is simply tossed aside and termed a “business decision” after consulting with 20 promoters. To be human is to be empathetic and I can sense his pain.

I'm just thinking of all of the money that I will be saving by not going to any Fleetwood Mac shows.

Bring on the Lindsey solo tour dates. I hope it happens. #istandwithLindsey

Cool Hmm...

I hope I can say this here, without getting annihilated. LOL

I think Mick and Stevie are from the same cloth. They like to flitter around, doing very little, but wanna be RICH AND FAMOUS. Yes, they love to make music, but the way they "work" is probably shown best in Stevie's In Your Dreams DVD (I bought it and watched 1 time). She's all about hanging out, spending time with friends and having a good time...oh, and singing a bit too. "I don't wanna be a cleaning lady."

Lindsey and Christine seem similar in that they don't shy away from really hard work. We know LB practically LIVES in the recording studio and is perhaps, constantly coming up with riffs, lyrics, musical interludes, etc. I think his brain churns constantly with music. Chris missed playing music SO MUCH and that was the reason for her return.

I'm not trying to bash...honestly. I read the post by lbfan about Lindsey and hard work and it just....kinda hit me.

You're not going to be annihilated for your opinion... you're pro-Lindsey LOL! Seriously though, I think you're giving too much credit to Christine regarding how similar she is to Lindsey with regards to work habits. Christine was retired for several years and didn't tour at all- yes, she recorded an album but it didn't take her long and she is very hands off. Making one album in 15 years just isn't that much.

Touring is hard work and exhausting, but Stevie clearly enjoys it because she does it a lot. Recording is also hard work and exhausting, but Lindsey clearly enjoys it because he does it a lot. These three don't have to do anything anymore, unless they want to, so clearly they're doing it because they enjoy it. But comparing Christine to Lindsey in the studio, I think, is like comparing apples and oranges, and he puts in a lot more work in the studio than she does- but that's because he enjoys it so much. Not a slam on her work ethic.

no need to be snarky. this is Lindsey-board, so people who love him have every right to feel protected here. and luckily, the time when Stevie fans would come on Lindsey board and spit all over him is in the past.

Beautiful, Christy!

I think Lindsey and Christine share the same passion for music. They're musical partners. But while Lindsey breaths music, Christine doesn't. Also, I'm not criticizing her work ethic. She doesn't feel it the same way he does. And that's why I love him so much.

This is so well thought out and written. I think it makes some excellent points that I haven’t seen so far in any discussions. I agree that Lindsey’s disappointment must be heart breaking. So much so that even his family feels it as well.
