Because of scheduling conflicts, the concert that was originally scheduled for May 18 at Arco Arena has been canceled. As some predicted, it probably proved convenient just to drop the show altogether due to low ticket sales.

Sales weren't spectacular, but I didn't hear they were all THAT bad... if they were terrible, they would have just canceled the show outright at the time.

I know this sounds naive - so there was no illness? The show was cancelled due to tickets sales and $$? This would make sense - TV ads for the concert were running the night before. No big deal, just curious.

Sucks. And not a good sign of things to come, really.

Quote:
Plus, you don't cancel an arena show on the day of the show for ticket sale related reasons. The fact they were airing TV commercials up until the day before shows the promoter was fully planning on the show happening. If ticket sales were so terrible, they wouldn't wait until the last minute to cancel AND spend all that money on TV/radio/print ads in the final days leading up to the gig. The most likely answer is that an effort was made to reschedule the show, but, in the end, they just decided that it wasn't worth it to haul all the stuff down from Alberta to Sacramento for just the one show (and, presumably, either couldn't/didn't want to add other shows in-between) |
