BBC's F1 Doesn't Break The Chain
[They are going to use The Chain as their theme song again]
From Yahoo: http://eurosport.yahoo.com/24022009/...urn-chain.html BBC unveils 2009 F1 coverage; confirms return of The Chain Tue 24 Feb, 02:02 PM The BBC has elaborated upon its Formula 1 plans in 2009, with news that it is to provide extensive and comprehensive coverage across all of its platforms - and that it is to re-instate Fleetwood Mac's legendary rock anthem The Chain as the sport's theme tune. The Beeb broadcast F1 until rival ITV signed an agreement with commercial rights-holder Bernie Ecclestone in 1997, a situation that continued until the end of last season, when it was announced that the top flight would be returning to its traditional home this year after more than a decade's absence. There will be live coverage on BBC1 of all 17 grands prix in 2009 and of every qualifying session with the exception of Brazil - which will air on BBC2 - as well as on the red button, radio, online and mobile. Moreover, fans will be able to customise their viewing experience by way of options including split-screen action, a live leaderboard, in-car cameras, a choice of commentary, live online streaming, live text, interactive forums, circuit guides and blogs. The presenting team will be constituted by award-winning former McLaren and Benetton star Martin Brundle and Five Live stalwart Jonathan Legard in the commentary box, with the expert studio line-up comprised of recently-retired 13-time grand prix-winner David Coulthard, colourful former team owner Eddie Jordan and erstwhile children's presenter Jake Humphrey. Ted Kravitz and Lee McKenzie will report from the pit-lane. Even better news still for die-hard fans, though, is that Fleetwood Mac's iconic, atmospheric signature tune is also to be reprised. The Chain is back. |

Awesome, thanks for posting this. Brings back memories.
Being nearly 10 years old sitting in front of the tv with a microphone in hand with my mono tape recorder. Recording the theme music so that I could play it over and over. It wasn't until a couple of years later I found out it was The Chain by FM. So I saved up my pocket money and bought the Rumours LP just for that. As I remember it.. The use of The Chain by the BBC for its F1 highlights programme is the reason why I'm a Fleetwood Mac fan. It's great that F1 is back with the Beeb and that The Chain is back too

That is good news. Thanks for posting this.
The Grand Prix on the Beeb just wouldn't be the same without The Chain Gail |

Glad to see F1 back where it belongs on the BBC and great news that The Chain will be the intro music
