Stevie's out because of Christine? Jealousy rears it's head.
From the Barry files...
Be careful what you wish for. Did the blonde Queen of Fleetwood Mac get more than she bargained for with the return of Christine McVie? Rock 'n Roll is all about ego. And in this case the Queen's eclipses the rest of the band all put together. Of course this is nothing new to the rabid fans of the group. Her ascendance to this position after the success of the Rumours album. And her crowning after the Bella Donna album gave her all the power. She only showed weakness when her drug use debilitated her. And her former lover in his one moment of triumph over her and the band left in desperation to keep his sanity. Even in her darkest hours of extreme weight gain, lethargic concert performances and making the worst music of her life, the ego propelled her on. Until even the fans had had enough. Then she finally abandoned the ship which she helped run aground. With no where to go the Queen jumped at the chance to appear with her former band mates at a political convention. And as the video from that night reveals she should have made a better choice at choosing a wellness center instead of center stage on prime time TV. Ego sometimes gives one a distorted view of themselves. And sometimes it's the opposite of what one would think. While some think worse of themselves, others think they're so great everyone will accept or more importantly will still love them. Years go by and with a little weight loss and more control over the substances that abused her body there's a chance at something good again. There's nothing like time that makes needy fans appreciate and maybe see things in a different light. Almost like a magic act. You know it's not real, but you so want to believe it that you suspend belief. We see what we want to see. The Dance was this magic. The Dance, Rock 'n Roll Hall Of Fame induction and a semi-successful solo album infused her with all the ego she needed to carry her through Say You Will and the subsequent greatest hits tours. Back to her old self she willingly threw her band mates, most especially the one that crafted her songs under the bus. And of course made sure the public knew about her old flames - the ones she truly loved. It didn't matter that her stories changed over the years. We still believed. If only the Queen had a friend to help her control her antagonist. Perhaps if the Blonde would return. Then the women could make things like they were before. And the Blonde knew her place. On that there was no argument. But here's where the story turns. What the Queen hadn't figured was how much the Blonde would be loved when she returned. A few nights an ego can take. But at over a year's worth of touring, ego can turn green. What's the Queen to do? With her power she holds the others hostage once again. The Blonde won't be the one appreciated on the next tour or album. It will be the Queen once again - and only the Queen. If time doesn't run out. |

As it should be! Hopefully the other band members will remember their place- if they do, maybe Stevie will tear up those contracts they signed giving her control over the release of their latest album!

Rubbish
Stevie has never been jealous of Christine. The song Say You Will is about begging her not to leave. Total nonsense. Stevie would come out almost every show after the concert and say how happy she was Christine was back. I enjoy your posts but they are always wild conspiracy theories Its always been LINDSEY LINDSEY LINDSEY. The Say You Will project was very tense recording with Lindsey. I saw major tensions on the last leg of the American ON WITH THE SHOW tour. In Miami Stevie was furious with Lindsey. During her long intro to Gypsy, Stevie was going on about touring with CCR and how their car broke down. At that moment Lindsey made his guitar sound like a car horn. Stevie stopped talking and turned to Lindsey and say "Did you do that? Why would you do that? Then she turned to the audience and said "Am I boring you? She then cut her intro short and they went into the song. That night Stevie did not come out and talk with the crowd.

She has talked about how horrible it made her feel when Christine and Lindsey wrote World Turning. Great read.

Great read. While I don't believe Stevie is jealous of Christine, per se, I do believe she has a problem with attention being diverted away from her...however that may occur.

This thread has a soap opera-ish feel to it.

If Mick were to get all the attention, she'd get jealous. She wants that power.
