It reminds me of the conversation in the thread about the top 10 most iconic Fleetwood Mac songs. Unlike top 10 favorite lists, I really think when considering the band's most iconic songs the list is much more definitive and really shouldn't vary from country to country. And as we see here: Go Your Own Way, Dreams, Landslide (keen they pointed out the 97 single version which renders the studio version pretty obsolete), Rhiannon, The Chain, and Don't Stop must be there. Gold Dust Woman is classic Stevie, probably the best and most lasting song she has ever written---and so many people weren't choosing it for their lists . And Say You Love Me was chosen by the band as the song they wanted to perform for their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction, which says a lot. So then, not counting I Don't Want To Know, those 8 songs are pretty damn iconic, and probably represent the songs the band will be most remembered by. I see that Tusk isn't represented at all, as expected. I do wish some of those songs, Beautiful Child in particular since it doesn't seem to be widely known or remembered as a great Rock ballad, had a higher profile. Another interesting thing to consider is how people on this site have really taken a hating to Dreams. So much so, actually, that it was being ignored as one of Stevie's best songs in the thread regarding her best FM albums. That studio version is superior work, and I'm glad to see the high ranking on this list, which provides an excellent selection of FM songs. I wonder: are they one of the most represented bands in the entire list? Last edited by bethelblues; 05-31-2013 at 11:58 PM.. |
