Thumbs up 2017 Fleetwood Mac "B-Sides" Amphitheatre Tour

Alight - so I suppose this is a bit of a train of consciousness thread with a few disclaimers/prefaces.

I don't listen to FM/Stevie too much any more. I am very grateful to the contributions they've made in my life, but the obsessed fandom is not there like it used to be (those of you long time ledgies know what I'm talking about). I love the fact that FM is currently on tour with the original lineup (saw them when they played Lauderdale in December of last year), but didn't go see them when they hit my state (FL) this time around.

I fully acknowledge that they're trying to hit the greatest demographic of folks with this giant arena tour, reliving old times. That is understandable. And I understand that overall the band is kind of stagnant in terms of remaining an active creative entity. I am not knocking them on that, I am just stating some facts here.

I just got home from work and am settling in for the night. Reading a few posts (knowing that unfortunately I am not as up to date on ledgie items as I once was, simply because the crazy fandom isn't there).

I'm seeing the discussion about Stevie touring for 24 Karat Gold and realizing that probably isn't going to happen. IYD was really her last new materials album, and 24 was kind of a flop, so that may or may not be happening.

So this got me thinking.............

There is still a potential that FM could be a continuative, current, and active new materials band with a certain creative element. How cool would it be (obviously if they released a new album), if they just kind of said screw it and did a truly creative endeavor that could satisfy them as TRUE musicians (though this may not even be something they want), and get us TRUE fans something to think about.

I'm talking about an amphitheatre tour playing the "B Sides" through their career. Truly some songs that we'd love to hear.

What do you think?

A nice fantasy. But why aren't there tour venues outside of the US? A real fantasy would have them performing these sets in many places they seldom go.

Hey now - I think it's pretty sweet. If it goes well, they can add European dates!

Opening with The Chain followed by Dreams? Been there and done that way too many times. Just too predictable. Yes, The Chain is a good opener, but it doesn't have to be cemented there. Dreams is a poor follower - a low key song that squanders all the energy generated by The Chain. On the current tour, it was a good call to have You Make Loving Fun be second song.

Nice idea but can't really see it being a reality. Perhaps if they did stripped down (unplugged) type shows in larger theaters, but that would probably be more unlikely. I'm guessing the album will be released in spring 2017 if Stevie gets on board, followed by another arena tour, perhaps to be the final outing. I sure would welcome some new live material if the tour supports a new album.

I like how you even thought out all the venues on this tour.

I guess this is why "Beautiful Child" is performed TWICE, huh? Once in the middle of the set and again as an encore? Not that I have a real problem with that. I loved the live version. But how about RTTG or Angel instead?

I wouldn't call it a "flop". It debuted at #7. None of her other contemporaries from her generation (Lauper, Benatar, Blondie, etc) have debuted in the top 10 in YEARS. It might not have sold many units but that's more a discussion about "record sales" in the industry itself these days.

And as far as this "dream set list/tour"...I LOVE IT...but it's more likely that Stevie will tour for 24KG instead of Fleetwood doing something like this. Truth.
