Several of my Kiwi friends have said they aren't going to Fleetwood Mac. I'm assuming because New Plymouth sucks.

I hate New Plymouth, and i think its not really fair that they chose to play there and not any of the major centres. But i have to go! for the historical significance!

New Plymouth is cool. Ever been to WOMAD there? Elton played there too before Auckland. I think the band made the right choice for NZ, easily the best venue for them.

That's ridiculous. They would sound way better, acoustically speaking, at an indoor venue. It seems New Plymouth was the choice because it can hold more people i.e. more ticket sales.

I stand corrected. Well I don't why in the hell they picked New Plymouth then. From what I've gathered, me' Kiwi workmates seem to think there's nothing to do there...and no reason to really go other than the concert. Everyone is surprised they aren't playing Auckland or Welly.

There only playing there because Stevie really enjoyed it last time she was there in 2006. I would of thought doing the first fleetwood mac concert in 30 years should of been located in a place with a much better infrastructure. Its unfair for all the fans wanting to go that have to pay for flights or the petrol to get there, plus theres next to no accommodation left, and nothing else to do in New Plymouth. Its all every good that they have a great womad there, but this isnt a festival. Its a two hour concert that people are going to have to spend a fortune on just to get there and have somewhere to stay.

thats the problem. No accomodation. And I've yet to "hear" a good show at an outside venue.

Someone was telling me about how they went to a UB40 concert at the bowl, and because it was so windy that day, the couldn't hear a thing.

I just don't trust New Zealand weather enough for an outdoor concert

How long a drive is it from the northern tip of NZ to the southern? How long a drive is it from Wellington and Aukland to New Plymouth?

I bet Xena(Lucy Lawless) will be in attendance too.

The Prime Minister John Key plans to rock out.

From a Taranaki Daily News Article

"I'll be back in December for the Fleetwood Mac concert," he said at the opening of the renovated National Party rooms.

Firstly, I have secured my Fleetwood Mac Tickets, they are in my hot little hands. I am so excited, and I only have to wait 3 months! Argh. They are playing in quite small venue, that is a 6 hour drive away, but I am so there. I have two tickets. Does that mean twice the experience?

Driving from Auckland to Welly is at least 7 hrs... depends on how fast you drive. Took me 9 hrs by bus.

Welly to New Plymouth is about a 4-5 hr trip.

Yep, thats about right, 7 hours to Auckland though is being generous and probably without stops! I can say however, from tip to tip (Cape Rianga-Bluff) it's about a 24 hr stint ( somehow, I'm not sure this is the Q ur asking, but I thought I'd just chuck that in anyway )
