Steve Earle
Someone pls tell me I'm not the only person who's ever heard of him....
I've been something of a fan for a long time, and noticed that he's playing in Austin soon. I was thinking of going to see him, but I don't know if his concerts are going to be peppered with songs from his last couple of albums, and sitting through two hours of "I hate George W" songs isn't my idea of a good time. Even if I hate him, too. |

I've only seen Steve Earle once, and it was Transcendental Blues-era, so the Bush-bashing was light at that point. So, really, I have no advice or other way of contributing to this thread.

About how much he hates Dubya, of course.

Maybe you could try looking up his set list on Steve Earle message boards, unless you don't want to be totally spoiled.
Did ya know he covered "Reconsider Me" on the Warren Zevon tribute album? And Reckless Kelly was his back up band. Cool for them, you know they worship Earle. |

I've worked with him once, and seen him 3 other times. I'm a huge fan of his older, more country sounding, music. But, he is an asshole. The last time I saw him, he only sold about 50% of the venues seats. The promoter told me that he thought the main reason was that people don't want to come out and hear a night of Bush bashing. Leave your rants at home, Steve!
When I worked with him, I took one of my acoustic guitars on his bus to have him sign it(a nice Takamine, that I paid about $1250.00 for)..... Steve said, to my face, "I hate these ****in' Japanese pieces of ****!", and then signed it. I don't recall if I even said anything in response. What a rude asshole.

I've heard of him.
He was the opening act at a Tom Petty show that I went to a few years back. Can't say I was particularly impressed, though. |

Loved Dolly's last three bluegrass albums and I love Emmylou Harris, though.

he's one of a kind.
I can't remember he made a weak album. He's one of the greatest independent thinkers in the singer-songwritersclub in the states.
