Anyone? I struggled through the book twice expecting enlightenment, and only found it long and depressing. I was 21 and 22 at the time. I think 'the message' was about not letting love or anything- get in the way of accomplishing your goals.
I still wonder why he thought I so 'needed' to know and understand that book, I last saw him in '90 and he died in '94. In the 80s, he had me tell him what I was thinking as I read it, but never would tell me whether I was 'right'- he thought it was brilliantly written, I know that much.
Is there any missed by me 'meaning' of 'The Fountainhead' anyone will share with me?
I know I don't want to read it again!
I have respect for anyone who doesn't understand Objectivism. No one should.

The ending felt just a bit empty or rushed for me, but I thought the middle especially was exquisite. I know I read Chapters 4 and 5 twice before moving on. I think I love his use of place more than anything.

'Splendor' is beyond brilliant in showing how one person in a relationship may hold on to it, and the other person moves on. I think Wood and Beatty were amazingly good in it. Loved the actress who played the wife near the end of the movie, too. Great movie.
It's a little melodramatic, but that's part of the reason I adore it. For being filmed in the 60s, (and set in the 20s), it's hard to imagine teenagers not being able to relate to some of its themes.

The ending sequence is just fantastic. Natalie and Angelina (I think that was her name?) play it perfect.
