It's like he's come full circle from Law & Order (think "Trouble") and his later albums, bypassing the complex arrangements of OOTC and doling out simple, short, organic and catchy tunes.

He was criticized from the beginning for his songs being "too short", so nothing new there.

I was concerned about an untested track being included on the Anthology, but this is a winning inclusion in my book.

For those having difficulty accessing the song, here are the lyrics as I hear them:

Verse 1
I didn't notice
What I couldn't see
And what I couldn't see
I could never believe

Chorus
There was hunger, hunger
So much hunger, hunger
So much hunger, hunger
Makes me wonder

Verse 2
Beautiful sister
Told a few lies
When it came to taking names
It was all compromise

Chorus

Bridge
(Note--still only at the 1:00 minute mark here. It's a short song!)
Ooh that man he tried to stand
But he fell down to the ground
Layin' silent in the night
There was no sight or sound

Chorus x 2

Makes me wonder

Understated outro

Edit: Spotify info lists it as originally (c) 2015.
I wonder who these lyrics are about?????

It amazes me how Lindsey is always able to find these amazing hooks/melodies. From Trouble to Gypsy to Little Lies to Sad Angel and many songs in between and now this song. Brilliant!

Good foot tapper and upbeat. To me sounds like it was written in the same mood as the "This is 40" songs, might be from that time period. Probably been sitting on this since the EP didn't turn into an album.

For those that haven't heard it's on youtube now

Anyone else hear a Show You How connection in the music? But much better then Show You How. In fact I’d say this is Lindsey’s best song since the 2008 gift of Screws album with the exception of One Take, Sad Angel, Rockaway Blind and maybe In my world.

This replacing Sleeping Around the Corner would’ve made the BuckVie album absolute perfection.

After hearing the entire track I don’t hear it as a “Seeds” leftover. I’d does remind me a bit of his “This is 40” contributions. Bring it on Lindsey wish we didn’t have to wait until 2019 for new studio album.😎

Thanks, I hadn't heard it. I was waiting for that solo explosion, but it never quite came. It has it's appeal, but doesn't blow me away.

What?! I'm just now finding out about these songs from This Is 40. Could someone kindly hook me up? It doesn't look like Lindsey's contributions to the soundtrack are available to download anymore.

I was disappointed that She Acts Like You wasn't included on the Anthology.
These two songs and Hunger are killer tracks.

I don't remember Ride This Road being the same. It could be anything but I would be surprised to see a track recorded since his firing. I bet the track list for this album was settled ages ago.
You think Hunger is that old? When I heard the “beautiful sister” line, I thought it was directed at Christine over recent events.

"Hunger" sounds like a good fragment of a song that needed some work on the middle 8 and the coda.

Sonically, it reminds me of the stuff from that era. We'll know if in a few weeks when we see who it was produced by or if John and Mick are on it. Plus we have this thread showing it being registered the same time as some EP and BuckVie tracks:
ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showpost.php?p=1082958&postcount=1

That's not to say he didn't go back and change/add lyrics, but I think this one has been in the can for 6 years and he just wants to get it out there.

If I recall correctly LB was thought to have around 20 songs in the hopper in that window of time. We know that 3 made the EP, 3 made This Is 40, 5 have made Buckvie, likely both on the Anthology too. That leaves 5+ from that era plus anything written since then. For the next solo album.
